Hey y'all,

How do you store your post hole digger?

Without something else to support it, it is a pain to attach/unattach by myself. Also, I don't want to just leave it laying on the ground.

Did you build a rack to set it on or maybe some kind of hanging rig?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Currently my PHD is sitting on 4 boards. I did cut a large chain link in half and welded it toward the top of the boom pole and can support the PHD from a tree branch with a chain or rope but don't have a tree branch handy where the PHD would be out of the way for snow plowing.

If you have a smooth floor, a dollie is hard to beat. With casters you can get things lined up pretty easy.

Saw this on YouTube. Seems simple enough. I just park mine in a partially dug hole.

Mine is tied to a tree with a chain. Hangidown parts are kept off the ground with pavers I had laying around.

Couple of posts that I salvaged from a remodel job and a chain wrapped around the top make it real easy to attach and remove my post hole digger.

Nice job Nick - looks very similar to mine. I added bigger casters this winter so it works on gravel. TSC has a great selection. To the OP this is a good way to go. If you search this topic, there are probably hundreds of options. Nicks stand is simple and easy to use.

Mine have been 2x6 secured with decking screws.

Tying the auger bit up near the gearbox and again about a third the up from the bottom to a utility pole, fence post, or a tree works pretty good too but it doesn't keep the shaft end or the pins off the ground unless you place them on a block of some sort.

Mine hangs from the rafter on the lean-to on the side of my barn. It's hooked to a come-along, so I use that to move it up or down to align it. Works pretty well, I put it on the tractor last week and it only took maybe 10 minutes to get it hooked up, probably less.
