Good morning!!!!

an article I read this morning said that this warm weather is because the jet stream is staying way up North, holding the cold air "up there".
It's when it dips down is the question...

am off to do a little brush cleanup, then making deer cages for the rest of the new orchard, and then to
assemble the wood splitter. Laid out all the parts, got the tools they listed, and should be good to go.

48°F and thick fog this morning, clearing and going up to 75° today.

Jim, those trails didn't just pop up like that overnight. They've been developing them for several decades. When I was a teenager in the early '80s, there was just one, The Nature Trail, which ran from just outside Granite City (where I grew up) to Edwardsville and Southern Illinois University. It was pretty much just chipped rock and thorns back then ... and more thorns than rocks in some places it seemed. My best friend and I used to ride the 15-ish miles a couple times a week. It ended a couple blocks from a Burger Chef restaurant, so it was like a lunch destination. Over the years, they started paving it section by section. Then a group got together and started raising money to buy other right-of-ways from out-of-service rail lines. Now, they're all over the place throughout Madison County, and even extending into adjacent counties. And yes, most of them are paved and lined, and run past parking lots and parks around the area, with restrooms and drinking fountains available at various points as well. It's turning into a wonderful system.

Good Morning! 40F @ 8:15AM. Variable clouds with thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon hours. High near 45F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Not your fault that your one good deed can't offset a lifetime of being a flake, Lenny. Hope your hiring recommendation doesn't backfire and reflect poorly on you. People at work used to ask me for recommendations when they went into merit review, but I had to stop when too many didn't live up to what I wrote.

That was my favorite red of all the colors you showed for the barn Wng. If yer gonna paint something red, might as well make it RED!

Some forty-five years ago a buddy's father took he and I up to Kenosha, Wisconsin to a bicycle track. We'd never seen one before and spent a couple hours zooming around on it. The next day we were out on old rail right-of-ways riding with him for miles. I remember the high trestles and tunnels the most, and the fine compacted limestone pea gravel that made it tricky to ride on with the skinny tubular tires we had. It was a lot of fun, and vastly different from the macadam country roads we had in Ohio.

Spent several hours yesterday switching auto pay and auto deposits away from my bank to a new checking account at the brokerage house. Some were as easy as a few clicks on a web page, some involved filling out emailed forms, scanning and signing, and emailing them back, real dark ages stuff with questionable security practices. Now to sit back for a couple months and see if it all works. If it does, I'll just keep the savings account at the bank and use them for check cashing and a safe deposit box. And I'm even thinking of replacing the box with a safe room kind of thing if/when I build the new shop.

Pretty day outside with lots of blue and some clouds. First time in a while I've seen the sun around here.

Think I figured out what's been crapping up the satellite reception...

Good Morning. At 1050 it's raining, 65F with 95% humidity. Forecast high of 70F with 90% chance of rain today, and a low of 59F tonight. I changed up my chores for the week. My little old Filipino lady gardening buddy has some Asian potatoes for me, and she wasn't going to be at the Catholic thrift store on Tuesday, so I put off shopping until tomorrow. I did my house cleaning yesterday, so as soon as we have lunch, I'm getting an early start on camping. Rain should move out soon, so I want to walk up to the Florida Trail {about two miles from the Larro Ranchero by road. half a mile as the crow flies} and hike down by the Chipola River. I have a new pack {and trekking poles} on the way. Can't wait for it to get in. Will be nice not to tie so much gear to my pack.

You guys have a good one.

You guys are a busy bunch! I finally ventured out to the grocery store with Lynn today. Took a cart to prop on, of course I filled it up too. Mild and cloudy today. Hoping to get better each day, still weak.

Just be thankful he's not a family member.

Lenny, you did the right thing. Don is right. I heard some peeps are scared to apply if they don't have a legitimate green card right now.

Eric, Doris was really beautiful in her Day...Batten the hatches.

Wng, that barn looks great. Money and effort well spent.

Yes, I know the old joke about what women put behind their ears to attract men....
