I don't know if you have propane for the house supply or not... but if you do, you might consider what I did last year:
I had the LPG supplier tie into the propane line coming into the house and add an outlet with correct fittings so I could simply run my $649 generator right off of my main 250 gallon LPG tank. I also keep 6 of the smaller 20# bottles - just in case. The supply line from my main tank installed was about $100.
I have to try that Gem99ultra,
I ran my 10k generator a couple hours yesterday and got to thinking about your post on hooking the generator to my 500# LP tank. Right now I have the tank 60' away from the house. It has a high pressure regulator on the tank. That goes then to a small copper line to the house with another regulator at the house. From there it goes to the furnace etc.
Between the high pressure regulator and the low pressure regulator on the house I teed of another line to a regulator to run my grill.
I am trying to figure out how to hook my generator up to work on the big tank.
I could run a high pressure line from before the first regulator and bury it 75' to where I would set the generator. Then I could use the pigtail on the generator just like I would on a small 20# tank, I think. I hesitate to do that because it is on a hill with all rocks.
The other option would be to hook the generator up the low pressure line after the last regulator just before my grill. My confusion would be where to hook it on the generator. I'm doubt hooking the low pressure line to the high pressure pigtail on the generator would work.
I am not sure if hooking it between the regulator on the generator and the motor would work because there are two lines there for some reason.
I was just wandering how you got yours piped up. It is a good idea though.
