I very much dislike seat safety switches on my tractors, but perhaps dump bed safety switches for trucks would be a good idea?

And why the heck don't these people with dash cams race up beside these trucks and waive them over if they can do it safely? It's like they are voyeurs waiting for the accident. I try to help out fellow motorists if a tie strap is dragging along the back, and for sure I would be working double time to catch up and potentially save a life in these kinds of events.

Dump trucks often dump while driving slowly, so a cutoff switch wouldn't work. Maybe something like a backup alarm would do it. Even a big red light on the dash when the bed is up would help.

Lots of newer cars and trucks have certain things that become inoperable after exceeding 5MPH or similar. Similar could be fashioned for them, an alarm that sounds if they exceed a set speed without the bed fully lowered.

Because its cooler to get it filmed for youtube/facebook/whatever... Shoot, even an Uber driver in California filmed himself explaining what happened and uploaded it BEFORE calling the police about suspecting sex trafficking of a 16yo girl... Gotta get the 'views' and the 'likes' first. Its most important. Dont worry about real people.. <shakes my head>

How about a governor that kicks in when the bed it up? Like 6mph limit. Or heck, a simple safety switch that only allows the bed to be up while stopped (neutral) or first gear.. Any other configuration makes the bed come down... Seems simple enough to do.

My 1 ton dump dump doesn't drive right with the pto engaged. I've done it a few times ( bed down, pto still engaged ). You can feel and hear it as soon as you hit second.

I love my nephew, and I hope he has some serious ratchet strap magic going on up front here... At least a lot of weight is up front.
