Tractors and wood! Show your pics

Gaproperty, I'm in Newfoundland. Wondering where you got your winch and how much? Size hp is your tractor ? Is that what you use primarily for firewood? I also have a j5 tractor, I could build a decent tandem trailer and drive to most wood. But have been thinking of a winch for a 28 hp tractor. I thought also if I got the winch of making a 3 point for the j5 and hydro pto to power the winch so I could use either or.

94bullitt, interesting hook. I know for me I would not go in the woods without a hook. With s proper tip, I can hook wood at arms length without having to bend like you would to wrap your arms around something. For stove lengths, I can hook and swing the wood , letting it fly to the pile. One smooth swing, takes a little twist of the wrist at the right moment to release the hook from the wood....send the stove length on its way. For lifting heaving junked wood, you can lift very hard pulling in the hook handle.

Nice, but is there a reason you've got your rear tires on backwards? That kind of defeats the self-cleaning feature of R1 tread.

Looks like they were swapped side to side to widen the stance. There's a lot of space between the inside of the tire and the fender.

If they were swapped to reverse for clearance, that wouldn't have reversed the tread. Looks to me like they were just switched side for side. I'd reverse them just to avoid the comments here. :laughing:

Good video. Did you make or buy the the choker/clevis end?

It is great to have tractors and big gear but there are many other logging tools that can speed up production as well. Here is mine.

Nice video. Have you tried a hookaroon with a short handle instead of a pulp hook?

No I haven't. Do they work good?

I like the short handle better than a pulp hook since you can swing it like a hatchet. I like the long one for dragging big rounds to the my splitters log lifter. I can use it to sit smaller stuff right on the splitter.

The short handle one is made by forester. It was around $20.

Love my pickaroon. I have an old school wood handled one and a 30" logrite. The logrite is worth the money. Every darned penny.
