Need to pour second cup of coffee. 63° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 79° with mostly sunny skies. Not moving very fast this morning. Did way to much with washing motorhome and lawn care. Lawn does not look good. Will have to cut again in a few days. Small projects today. Body needs a rest.
Good Morning All.

both my five and six inch manual rain gauges are overflowing. Digital one says 4.5 inches since last night.
System seems to be going up the coast slowly and will rotate around bringing a lot more precip over next few days.
Going to get soggy here.
No damage out at the road, some raking, not much since I had already raked it out when dry.
One turtle floated a foot away, he's back in position now.

David S. thank you for sharing. Enjoyed it virtually.

109 heat index forecast today. Uhghh. Possible 30% showers this weekend for some relief.

Today is my wifey's Birthday!

Eric, I was thinking full retirement might be your "song of the sirens". Put some wax in your ears while you work.

Drew, keep your bathing suit on.

Good day all!

Good morning! We hit 101˚ yesterday with a heat index of 113˚ and the pool water temp went up to 96˚ when I took the solar cover off. It feels like a hot bath.

Currently 73˚ hot hot day with lots of sun.

I may try to finish mowing at Dads, I only started 5 weeks ago . . . .

David I can't believe vacation is almost over, thanks for taking us along. The best part of coming home is greeting your pets.

Not quite that bad, Eric. I'll still have mowing and chores to catch up on and then back to my delayed projects.
Life is good.

you're going to need to walk off some of those onboard pastries...;)
I'm sure good food and very different than what you are used to.

Thanks for the support and comments guys, made the trip even better. Sorry if I didn't acknowledge anyone directly, no slight intended.
Probably be a couple years before another great adventure, although I already thanked our son and told him his potential inheritance took a hit. :) Current thinking is no more major trips until our dogs pass on( they are 8 and 9, getting on for Boxers). We do miss them when we are gone. Do have a couple of outside influences suggesting an Alaska cruise next year.
I have this crazy idea that in 4 years to lease out the main house for a year, move into our cottage and do a major world excursion for a year. Of course this would be mostly dependent on health given we'd be 4 years older. My basic plan is to avoid major flying, except to and from Hawaii, make transportation a major part of the experience by using cruise ships for major points A - B, trains between land points, and having banked a number of home exchanges for stays in places we want to stay a week or so. Could be a nightmare to plan, but hey, I've got 4 years. Why 4 years you might wonder? 3 main reasons - our oldest Boxer, Ruby, made it to 12yo, we will be mortgage/debt free, and my planned major projects will be completed. Still fun to dream.

I'm sure, Drew. Took the kids to Outback last night. I think 1st time I've been in an Outback in maybe 9 or 10 years. Always liked the Blommin Onion, but forgot how salty.
Afterwards, I commented to wife that after the last two weeks of eating healthy, felt like I had just binged on junk food. Can't say a return trip to Outback is on my must do list.

62 this morning and headed to 89 today.

Have a funeral visitation to attend this morning. A great uncle. Then maybe back to haul some more hay. Then a doctors appointment for me. Allergy doctor. Then off to the preschool open house if the boy feels better. If not more hay moving. Moved 3 loads last night, if my count is right 8 more loads to go.

David. Nice vacation thanks for the ride along.

What was the chaos this time?

Work emails that folks expected me to answer while on vacation (even though I had auto reply on with a backup listed).. a morning of back to back meetings with double and even triple scheduling (overlapping meetings). Folks can see Outlook calendars when scheduling meetings but continue to request meeting during time another already scheduled.

... and to top it off, my group is being asked to justify our jobs again (did it several months ago) using yet another method. New upper management does not understand what we do and there is pressure to cut the workforce.

How frustrating. Prayers are with you.

Sad that companies pit worker against worker. Can't they understand the fallout?

Sounds like my last two years on the job before retirement. The last year I banked all my vacation, taking it after announcing I was leaving, just because it was always such a nightmare coming back from vacation. Just like you're seeing now. Good luck with your situation. How long before you can take a permanent vacation?

Good Morning! 72F @ 8:30AM. Sunny. High 89F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph.

David, thanks for letting us peek over your shoulder on the river cruise. I've never been to an Outback, so perhaps you'd share some pictures if you ever go back?

Batten down the turtles, Drew! Is it time for a personal weather station yet?

Managed to finish moving the firewood pile yesterday, along with three bucket loads of manzanita and oak stumps they'd hidden underneath. Then took a little walk around the area that they'd covered with "sticks", and found that a lot of them are as big as my arm. It'll take a little work with the FEL and box blade to be able to get up there with the tractor, but I'll give it a shot later this week when the weather cools off. For now I'll get going again on the van and see if I can get the door jams masked and painted. Or at least that's where I think I left off before the Labor Day fire? Supposed to get hot again for the weekend, and that would be the time to finish the paint.

76F and sunny ... high today predicted to be 85F and less humid.

Ground should be getting near dry enough to mow so need to think about doing that ... but OTOH next chance of rain isn't supposed to be until Monday ... so I can probably put it off a little longer ...

Updated splitter build thread with more pics.

Going to clean out the 2nd hydraulic tank today, get it mounted, and start on the plumbing.
