Thoughts on this 10' grader blade?

Too much for a Kubota L4330? I'm getting pretty tired of too small stuff on the back of my tractor.

It already comes with hydraulic cylinder mounts (but no cylinders) and cat 1/cat 2 compatible.

You can always cut 18" off each end,,,

I think 10 feet would be great for 4-6 inches of snow,,, when does TN ever get more than that?

I used a 7 foot behind a much larger tractor last winter,,, it was much better than a 6 foot,,,

It looks pretty heavy duty. You could always cut some off the ends. Where I live in TN snow plowing isn't necessary. We get some snow, but it melts fairly quickly.

Not to much for your Bota. Large blades really shine when you're grading a large yard. Cut a little at a time and make several passes for a football field smoothness. Move all you dirt around with another tool such as box blade or loader then smooth out with this grading blade. Bigger the better for grading. As for drive way maintenance it's according to how your drive way is set up to drain. If it's crowned you'd have to learn how to do it with a 10' blade. If its flat and leans to one side or the other for drainage (like mine) this blade would be perfect.

As rear blades are mostly used on an angle, usual recommendation is to multiply blade width X .70, which is 7' for the blade you are considering.

Perhaps a tad wide. Not bad.

Your Three Point Hitch is Category I. That blade may be Category II. So it may not fit your hitch. Check before you take it home.

I think it totally depends on you and how you will use it. I have a 7 foot blade used a good bit on 2 wheel drive M6800 and it could control that tractor depending on what I was doing. If set at sharp angle trying to cut a surface ditch front end was too light (with weights) to keep tractor straight.

I do not think you will be able to drop into the ground and pull full blade of dirt by any means. But if you can keep the depth under control you may do well with it. Yes longer blade is better for leveling. Just keep in mind the leverage the end of the blade has and the side load it can place on the lift arms when the blade is rotated or tilted. Do think you will need the FEL on the tractor when you are using it.

Then I have an eight foot box blade that is a wimp behind my M6800 but a ten foot pull box that gives four wheel drive JD5525 all it wants.

Look at pic #1 again. I think it's set up like my HD LMC 6' BB for both catI and cat II. It appears the cat I tabs are missing on the lift arm tabs; easily corrected.

Not much snow here in SC TN, but would be used for such when needed. Mostly for grading my one mile gravel road I live on.

It also looks like the structure behind the blade could be filled with concrete for more weight.

Asking $975, still worth it?

For dirt you're barely going to scratch the surface. For snow you will have no problem pulling a load straight with it, angle the blade and it's going to tell the front wheels of the tractor where to go.

I'd look for a more appropriate blade. It's going to be about the same price anyway.

You might be right. Once he heard the size of my tractor, the guy tried to talk me out of it. I may have bit off more than I (or my tractor) can chew.

I bought it anyway.

I was wrong about it being Cat I/Cat II compatible; It's actually Cat II/Cat III compatible. That means I have to add Cat I bottom ears before I can even see if my 3PH will pick it up.

So, bottom line: It's either going to be the most awesomemest grader blade in TBN history or it's going to be the biggest forkup. Stay tuned?

As you already figured out, it's way to big. But you can put on some Cat1 ears & cut sides off the blade to make it fit you traction levels. Probably way more stout of a blade than you could otherwise get even after you trim it down.

If cutting it down a bit is an option look at making the pieces that are cut off into sides for it then once HYD is added with quickly attached or removed sides you will find a lot less use fro your box blade. Fab up some good adjustable trail wheels for it and it will serve almost any need.

Curious if the weight is known on the unit?

I have two blades now,,
If I would have found that 10' blade, at that price, I would have brought it home.

One neighbor in our valley of farmers has a blade that size,,,
the results he gets make him the envy of all the farmers.

I looked up the mfg's phone #, dead as a doornail.

I looked at grader weights before I left, the heaviest I could find was about 775 lbs (EA's heaviest 8 footer). I figured anything less than 1200 lbs would work.
