54 right now...high of 78 today.
Long day yesterday...bit over 12 hours not including driving time (hour each way). The auditor is a "by the book" kind of guy and we got nailed on our QMS (Quality Management System) not being set up for a multi-site QMS. He was right, of course...it was something I'd been expressing to the higher ups, but to no avail.
Reckon it'll be long days all week until Friday. That will be a short day since the auditor has to catch a flight.

Ouch, sounds like he has a major non-conformance there, with a possible early re-visit. Guess you won't know for sure until Friday. I found the toughest auditors were those who had a nose for finding imperfections, those "by the book" guys can spend a lot of their time just reading paper and ticking boxes.

I always told the younger engineers that we were paying good money to be audited and it's money wasted if they didn't find anything for us to improve on. If only I could have believed that myself :). Hope you get an easier time with the rest of the week.

Good morning, did someone just say winter is coming ? Hard to believe we are almost at the end of August, how could summer have sneaked by so quickly this year.

Kyle, the swans are still in heavy molt, with feathers everywhere at the moment. When I asked for a picture, only one agreed and even that was on the proviso there would be no body picture until new feathers have grown :)

Working on on one tractor, actually making a small model of the hitch I want to build and testing it to see if it does what I think it will. My model is two screw hooks, screwed into a cardboard "a frame", have a long pin acting as the swivel rod for the screw hooks/lower arms. Using a winch mount to play the part of the tractor tail piece, with a long all thread running through a hole into the upper part of the cardboard to simulate the actuator. Looks like my idea might just work.

Randy, I'm sure many of us would love to see your cardboard model, can I persuade you to get the camera out ?

Buppies, my nose is running non stop - I mowed and bush hogged for 6 hours yesterday...I was a one man dust storm...and cut ragweed plants 6 feet tall.

Eric, be careful the pond aliens don't sneak on those swans.

Good morning all, 66 this morning going to 88 with a 20% chance of thunderstorms. Had a normal day and then had some friends over for pizza. I had veggie with no cheese and wife had bacon mushroom and extra cheese. I got her to taste that years ago and now that is all she will eat if given a choice. Right after we finished eating some more friends stopped by for a few min. Great evening. Got to make a costco run today and stop by the car dealer to get the window fixed, it only goes up by spurts and jerks. Hope to sell it and get something else. 52,000 mi and it burns oil like crazy and Subaru won't fix it unless it burns more than a quart in 1200 mi. Think it is time for a Honda or a Toyota, need big back seat with leg room so the boy can get in and out with out to much trouble.

Eric I like modesty in a swan.

Have a great day Ed

good morning all. Wunderground has hurricane alarm banners, but that must be just for the Outer Banks. So far no rain predicted here which is odd. I'm off to the fish store this morning to find something nice to cook for dinner out on the grill. Several friends coming over, with or without their big diesel motorhome. Still not sure if they are bringing it in here; they stopped over yesterday when I wasn't here and I'm not sure my friend wants to navigate between the two big pine trees at the end of my lane. I also told him if it was pouring rain not to bring his rv in here, too hard on the lawn. If it were dry, nothing hurts the sandy lawn here, but wet, dents like normal.

going to stop in at the import car shop and see what's happening with my car. Has been in there a week so far. Really need it back by end of week because truck goes into body shop next week.

went to a carport place yesterday afternoon, very nice people, has just what I want, will see what they charge.
They also sell golf carts and the owner said he owned the same golf cart as mine and he thought there was a conversion kit to add a rear seat in the area the golf clubs go. I don't play golf...and sure would like more seats for another couple. Probably a lot of plastic to bolt and unbolt, but that was good news. I really like my two seater and didn't want to have to buy a four seater. Plus I had just put new batteries in it. So I hope what this guy says is true.

Poured first cup of coffee. 66° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 84° with cloudy skies. Went to the gun range yesterday. Fired off 100 rounds with no ear problems. Used ear plugs and ear muffs at same time. Good to go for CPL class on Labor Day. Little bit of shopping today with wife. Need a hair cut. Then get tools ready to tackle trees and weeds growing under pine trees that line front yard. Pine trees always seem to attack me with bruises and cuts when I do this project.
Buppies, allergies coupled with any other pain is not good. Get well soon.
Roy, audits were never fun when I worked. Do not miss them. Hope your week gets better.
Good Morning All.

Good Morning All.

Ron, you might need a pine tree safety suit?

69 this morning and headed to 93 today.

Take the boy to preschool and then stop by the Walmart to hopefully find some cool dress clothes. Then back to see what I can do before the funeral. Maybe a hair cut also.

Roy. Are y'all ISO 9001 or something else. I remember that from business class. About all I remember.

Eric nice swan.

Amazon.com : GRC Golf Products Golf Cart Rear Flip Back Seat Kit : Golf Cart Accessories : Sports & Outdoors

well I found it on Amazon and much cheaper than I thought, seat flips down so I can still have a junk platform
when I need it, which is most of the time. Older friends cannot make the step up to the elevated golf carts; mine is normal height thankfully; flat land
here, no use for more traction or height.
Now all four of two couples can go for a little cruise with a refreshment in hand. Guess I'll have to find more cupholders...;)
there is a heavy duty rear leaf spring kit that will also get installed for the extra weight.

Good morning! 72˚ heading to mid 90s. Partly cloudy.

Ed, I just had the 60k mile service done on the Forester, it is a big one you might want to sell before then. Mine still just burns a quart every 7.5K miles so it's still acceptable.

Drew, the extra rear fold down rear seat on the golf cart is nice. I bought a cargo caddie box to go on top of the fold down seat to carry tools when guest are not here. http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/271731989220-0-1/s-l1000.jpg

Today is a mow day as soon as the dew dries. I also need to do some followup work on my parents new water heater. Even with the new controller installed the pilot light heats up the water more than 130˚ when it not suppose to be more than 85˚. I will contact the manufacture and with get a refund or they can pay to have another one of their water heaters installed. I'm thinking they might have installed a natural gas burner in this propane hot water heater. A failed quality assurance issue that is causing me much grief.

thanks Don. I need to customize the rear to hold my "essentials", which include loppers and a compact plastic pitchfork i use to get junk/trash out of my road ditches. I suppose I could just toss them in the bin but I'd rather hang them somewhere. The golf bag holder straps currently do a good job; going to need a different solution once installed and I can visualize it better. Might just need to bolt a bracket on somewhere. The low weight is good, makes it easier to take out and the whole thing protects the seats below. Good idea.

Good Morning! 64F @ 6:15AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 89F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Got the bearings changed yesterday, but it took all day to do it. Most of the time spent screwing around with a bearing puller that wouldn't. Ended up just using the TIG welder to shrink the races so they could be slipped out. I don't like to do that because it burns the paint on the frame, and if I slip with the welder, the races won't come out at all

Didn't make it to town, so that's on the agenda for this afternoon. Back to sanding and masking on the van this morning.
