2 Acres half Woods and Lawn Is this B2320 for me?

I have a B2320 and have been very pleased with the abilities of the little tractor although I have a bad habit of sticking it in our slippery clay. Fortunately I have a neighbor with an L series Kubota that pulls me out. I only have 5 acres and it seems to be a good size for my purposes. I use a ZTR for my 1 acre lawn and don't finish mow the other 4 but keep the brush down with a 48 inch rotary mower. Keep an eye on the FEL mine failed under 50 HRS with a bad loader valve seems to be a common issue. Enjoy you new toy.

Nicely done.
Let us know the first time you forget to take the ROPS down comming into the garage.

Make yourself a sign on a string that hits you in the face before you can pull in enough. Hang it when you put up the ROPS and take it down when the ROPS goes down. It it continues to live in the garage.

Axle,

I appreciate the cautionary advice. My post was meant for a little fun but perhaps I should clarify so as not to set a bad example. I had the ROPS all the way up and the seatbelt on when I tested the hill. I was moving at a snail's pace and only traveled about 10 feet at the base of the hill.

There is no more downward slope at the base; just the up slope of the ditch. I would not risk my life for my lawn that's for sure.

As a rule, I mow with the direction of a slope with only side-hilling the 10 foot run at the base that the deck bridges when I mow down hill. I'm just learning about my machine which in my opinion is valuable.

A.

I'm glad to hear it Avery. Just last weekend someone my wife knew passed away from a zero turn falling on him over a 15 foot bankment drop. Ztr's are so treacherous on hills and slopes.

But you pracgicing safe methods is positive to hear compared to your testing story :)

So then Ive only got one little cautionary mention I learned abruptly last year . . you mentioned yo shift from 4wd to 2wd during your testing. No one told me going down a hill in 2wd can be startling . . If your rears aren't firmly touching ground in 2wd . . You have no brakes or hst slowing . . you just go flying down the hill. Why? Because brakes and dynamic braking only effect the front axle when in 4wd..

Catch u later.

This may be one of the best tips I've gotten. The new garage doors in the photo were expensive - you probably just saved me 900 bucks! My door frame only clears the ROPS by a few inches at 45 degrees. Fully raised, the ROPS will clip the door by a good 6 inches.

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up as I will be mowing downward on my hills. I'm glad you gents take the time to repeat these tips; especially for new owners. Though they are the same shape and perform the same relative function, the differences between my tractor and my riding mower are night and day.

BTW, I'm sorry to hear of your wife's late friend - tragic.

Oh man, that'll give me nightmares. I was mowing downhill with a MMM and nothing else. I went down in mid range, 2WD. I paused at the top and when I went over, I never lost traction. One hill ends in a shallow ditch and the other in my driveway. I figured going uphill would be a back flip risk. Maybe I should take some pictures.

Yeah, this has been debated before, I've read opinions on both and done both, this may help.

I have 'wheelied' my ZTR a couple times going up a steep hill. Luckily the engine sticks out far enough to keep me from doing a back flip.
