John Deere 6400 power steering Problem

I bought the 6400 used a few years ago, since then the steering wheel will i guess jolting to one side and if left running and not moving will continue to turn wheel until it is all the way.Does the power steering have its own pump or is it tied into all over hydros?

My knowledge of JD tractors sold after the 55 series is very limited. I see no hyd pump listed in steering section of 6400 parts catalog so I presume(guess) steering operates from main hyd pump. Parts catalog lists a "field installed check valve"(parts key 5) for steering and I wonder what it's purpose is? It appears only parts offered by JD for steering valve is a seal kit. That line goes to the inlet priority valve. There is a check valve in that line near the inlet priority valve. My guess is the FI check valve is an easier way to replace a bad check in this line? Maybe saves pulling the cab?

You are correct, looks like you can't buy internal parts for the steering valve from JD. Maybe from Danfoss? Sounds like weak or broken leaf springs that are internal, there are 6.
