Good morning!!!!

I won't know until I see the DMV teller, but the last 1 year registration I renewed was for a 1993 BMW motorcycle, and it was over eighty bux. I think the F250 is close to three hundred. I know driving is a privilege, but it's a costly one here in the Golden State. Worse, now that the politicians have successfully driven most older, non-fuel efficient vehicles from the highways, and the price of gasoline is about half what it used to be, they're talking about drastically increasing, you guessed it, vehicle license fees to compensate. And the current Lieutenant Governor, who has aspirations for the Governorship in '18, is going to qualify a ballot initiative for this election to require a license to purchase ammunition and ban the ownership of magazines holding ten rounds or more. We'll have a choice of selling them out of state, destroying them, or giving them to FFLs or LEOs.

But don't get me started...:punch:

I'm sure the "Cali officials" will lower license fees as gas and diesel go back up? Brent Crude inching closer to $50 every day. Same for WTI.

Drew, the hardest thing on blades in normal mowing is sand. Mine have to be sharpened much more often in dry weather when the sand and dust are worse.

Yep, me too! Very sandy soil here. Never have to clean under deck during dry weather.

   / Good morning!!!! #45,243
Drew, is it easier to lift your JD to sharpen your blades than take the deck off and flip it over? My JD is a lightweight model, but take 5 cotter pins off and pull the belt a bit and the deck can be pulled off and out...then flip it over...it's much lighter to maneuver mine, I know. Just wondered if I move up into a real garden tractor how it will work.

I back my JD Z820A up on 8" ramps, then pick up front end with FEL and 2000 lb. rated lift strap. Plenty of clearance and never have to get under deck to change or sharpen blades.

I have two air powered grease guns, one a Napa and one a noname. Neither worked before and neither worked today. And I got covered in grease for my efforts.
Both grease guns make a pumping noise but nothing comes out. I must be jinxed. So back to the old manual gun which never fails though it sure would be easier on me to get them working.

.

Drew, get you a couple of Lock N Lubes for your grease guns, you won't regret it.

I either lift mine with a come along on a chain in my one building or use the loader in the garage. I use the impact to take off the blades.

+1 on the impact wrench. Only way to go.

Well I'm back home. With the ranger. Interesting ride home. Trailer I took was too short. Well it fit but no room to balance and being a single axle well. ImageUploadedByTractorByNet1461974917.495967.jpg

Drew. I'm going to recommend one of these. DeWalt DCGG57B 18V Cordless Grease Gun - Tool Only | Toolnut.com
I have one to match my other tools. Works great. Has two bleeders an auto and manual. Takes seconds to prime.

I use a floor Jack and 2-4 ton Jack stands to change my blades on the Dixie chopper.

Retirements over, think I'll be real busy soon.

Nice vehicle farmer.

too funny, mine came in two days ago. Good minds think alike! Now I just have to get the grease out to it...
It is physically a little larger than normal so clearance might be an issue, maybe not. Sometimes they don't give you much room
or the right angle for the zerk.

Farmer, way cool UTV. Room for a whole family together, excellent. Or two couples.

I have an older Dewalt electric impact gun that works really well on the mower bolts, 350 pounds is plenty.

the cordless guns make sense if there is distance from air. But I've got a nice air compressor right where I work so I figured the
air powered ones made sense. Hard to believe both would not work, like what am I doing wrong. Multiple compressors, air isn't the issue. New grease
cartridges, frustrating.

I have to laugh at my garden. Here I was worried about the potatoes freezing. Uh, false alarm...they came back with a vengeance; I had to put up mini wire fencing today to rein in this mass of green. Blackberries were blooming, peonies about to pop, I bet the ants show up tomorrow. My favorite pic is of the edible pod peas, with the first little tendrils reaching out and grabbing on to the bottom run of string. Aaahhh, made it. And my trailer is tucked in a quiet spot at the very end of the campground near water and even a boat at a dock. All somewhat picturesque in a fairly unattractive area. Well, the one neighbor across the way has four giant pink flamingo statues, and all kinds of Key West stuff going on in his backyard. Ok, works for me.

Drew,

I'm using an old Coleman air-powered grease gun, which generally works without issue.

What I do when I reload it is put the cartridge in the tube, screw tube back onto the gun, release the spring-loaded plunger and then screw it back out a ways (be careful tho' ... :D), then screw it back in.

Usually if it's not pumping anything out it's out of grease.

Garden looks great BTW ...

Good morning everyone. We managed to escape the snow. Looking from our high ground I can see it has all dropped on the hills to east, but I don't mind if they don't want to share it.

Eric, I made several visits to Campbell-Laird Shipyard, in Birkenhead, across the River Mersey from Liverpool, back in the 1980's.
Do tell us more Rick, what brought you to their Shipyard ? Or were you on one of those hush-hush projects that still has to remain top secret !

Farmer, party day :dance1: Happy birthday to your son. He got a slide, you got a fantastic looking Ranger, now only your wife to find a present for ;)

...Thanks, Eric, now I can't get the Pacemakers out of my head. Time for a little CCR.
Now you've done it to me, I've got that opening guitar riff to Up around the bend playing somewhere between my ears. Slightly more high frequency than I remembered on the original. Symbols ? No, it's only my tinnitus that wants to join in too.

57 going to high sixties today in overcast weather, great day to work outside. Lots of mowing to do, a little weedeating. My helper comes tomorrow with a dozen shrubs and evergreens he got good deals on so tomorrow is a planting day. I still have almost 70 holes already dug for barrier trees waiting. Job security...

Good morning all, 54 here this morning going to 60. calling for rain, showers and thunder storms every day and night except wed. night through friday. It is still dry so we need it. The fire crews up on the fire are mopping up making sure there are no hot spots that can send out sparks if the wind picks up. Signed some paper work on the tractor sale last night and should get paid end of next week or first of the next.
Got some E track and some in the floor tie downs for the box trailer and started putting them in yesterday, Got four 5' pieces and after cutting it looks like I will have the walls covered with a 3" piece wasted. Had an old treadle sewing machine that belonged to my great grand mother turn mostly over in the trailer the other day, time to fix that.

Farmer Happy birthday to your son. Glad he likes the slide.
Was sitting here reading Good morning at about 5:55 when Back in my BIL's room I hear very loud, WOOOW WOOOW HAY BABY WAKE UP COME AND DANCE WITH ME, and before I could get back there it was starting to WOOW again. A friend brought him a chicken alarm clock that "sings" that over and over, He just sits there and looks at it and laughs. He is non verbal.

Youall have a great day. Ed

I ordered one a few weeks ago and really like it. ike having another good hand. About 60 here in N. GA. Promised rain never came, predicting more chances later today and we can use it. Yesterday my little Kioti did fire duty. Had some huge brush piles that burned from 11 until bedtime, probably still warm.

   / Good morning!!!! #45,260
61 this morning and headed to 77 today. Really don't think it'll make it. Only did 72 yesterday and. It's already raining, supposed to continue all day.

Not much planned for today. Take care of chickens and cows. Then time with wife and son. His party is this afternoon. Do need to run to TSC and pickup some supplies for the ranger.

Son has claimed ownership of the ranger. Took him for about a 30 minute ride yesterday and he didn't want to get off. Finally had to convince him the ranger needed it's sleep and was going night night. Now it's raining this morning so he won't get to ride either. Maybe this afternoon.
