We had a number of stick only PowerArc 160's at a barn burner price. We need to clear these.
k0ua has had one for a number of years. If you need a reference on these, see some of his posts about it.
These units are built like the old PowerARC 200's and have a E6010 capability, which the 160STH and 140ST does not have.

If you want a new 160 amp DC stick welder for well under 250.00, PM me for specifics.

Mine works well. I also TIG with it.

Let me know if you ever get an over stock of PowerArc 200STs. I just might buy a back up! One of the best welders I've ever run! I just love this thing!

Okay k0ua, I went for it. I better be able to weld hooks that well as soon as I get it! ( not currently a welder but this PowerArc makes me an instant expert, right? ).

Yup... :)

Nothing but stick time will make anyone an expert. And even then, anyone who is an expert, coughcarlcough, will tell you they have a lot more to learn. I know I do. Sometimes I am overwhelmed about how much more I have to learn about welding that I will probably never get to. I think that's one reason that so many welders (mostly on other forums) like to brag and belittle others...it's an insecurity thing more than it is anything else. They are insecure about what they don't know, and like to yell what they know to sound impressive. Not all, but a significant minority of them are like this.

Every bead is another chance to do it better than the last. :)

What are the current requirements of the 160?

Mark,
To determine if I'm interested. I'd like to read a description of features etc. like the ones at your site for all the current welders. Do you have one you can put up as an attachment or something?

Mark in my opinion, this is a trade you never stop learning. The more people you work with, you pick up little tricks from them. Same with all these welding forums, we learn from each other daily!

From my head, it has "hot start" feature for getting the acr started easier , Adjustable current in 1 amp steps from 5 to 160 amps DC. uses the 10 MM (3/8) Dinse connectors and has the 6010 port to run 6010 and 6011 better. I think the maximum input current was listed at 32 amps.

K0ua,
Thanks. Do you remember the duty cycle at 160 amps?

The manual says 60 percent.
I have welded one 7018 after another as fast as I could burn them when I welded the edge of that bucket I converted to SSQA and the welder never even got warm to the touch. The fan does run all the time, but is not excessively loud.

K0ua,
Thank you very much. Do you remember the duty cycle at 160 amps and do you have to let it cool when running 1/8 inch E7018 rods on thick material?

K0ua,
Thanks again. I didn't realize post 16 had gone through when I revised it.
