Slow morning, 60F and overcast, trace of rain from last night in rain gauge. wind is approaching the forecast 21+ mph, looks like rain possible but Wunderground reports only 15% chance. Actually Don, it wasn't a quality fattie. Won't buy that one again. And I only eat bacon every couple of months. Of course more important than that is not eating
the horribly fatty barbecue they make here. Vinegary or not, you put the leftovers in the fridge and you are looking at a white ball in the morning. Yuk. One step away from glue... I eat that when company comes, we go out to lunch and I nibble some of theirs. I just don't show them the leftovers in the morning...

one hour from my home are the docks on the Pamlico sound in Swan Quarter where the shrimp boats come in, and that's what I need to buy more of. 5 bucks a pound for extra large and caught that morning.

Though that grapple will be a work of art when it's done. When I watch you go through all the steps in fabricating it,
that check I wrote for my Long grapple seems awfully reasonable. But you will have it exactly the way you want it.
And I bet with better quality hydraulic hoses too. Or I suppose you could do all your lines in solid copper and spend your afternoons
polishing them... Just the kind of helpful suggestion you need. Yup.

home i noticed a dead elm had broken off and was leaning against a locust tree, so got some seat time in.
Started pulling it down with the backhoe, another dead one next to it, so i pushed on that one, and uprooted it. Got it pushed down, then went back to the first leaning one and got it pushed down. Then yanked its stump right out, all without moving the tractor.
Then cut into lengths, trimmed a bunch of trees while i had the saw running, put on the pallet forks, and got everything hauled over the hill to my burn pile.
Oh, when i first got my tractor out, noticed tires looked low, so got them filled, noticed a loose bolt on one of the back tires. Ended up with 4 of 6 being loose. Tighted them up, checked all the tire bolts and loader frame bolts.
Just ate that cherry pie, yummm.

Afternoon, More seat time today, Rain and cool. What a day, the gravel is all here and spread out. Started early to miss the rain had to get 3 loads and he did not show up till after 9:30 so we got two loads in then it started raining when he delivered the last load but I got it spread good enough for now. Later when it drys up some I will grade it some more then hit it with the roller. Then it will just seem like we did nothing. We did 137.32 Tons this time around, came to $2,197.12 About half of the lane. The back half that we are on.

Went to town and fixed my beer to find it went down to $12.87 a 30 pack and that is with the tax. Miller High Life Lite. :thumbsup: AT least something has fallen in price. Gas is back to $2.00 :thumbdown:

And I was twice as mad two years ago. :laughing:
What gets me is the dysfunction of price of crude to pump. One would think that two years ago when it was like $100.00 + a barrel and $4.00 + at the pump why now, at $40.00 - a barrel is it still $2.00 at the pump. That math don't add up. And it takes a day to go up and months to go down???? Got to love deregulation don't ya.

Ha ha. Actually, I cannot think of any of my cooking recepies that leftover apple pie would not be better with/in. Anything with fatty bacon turns off my appetite completely.

Took care of sick wife today so not much done on outside work in fact none at all. Regular job tomorrow

I find it interesting that T Ball is gaining popularity. When I was young, that was a east coast, urban thing. I guess it helped that we had plenty of space for baseball diamonds.

It's a great training tool for 4-8 age group, I coached girl's softball for years, the kids coming from Tee ball and coach pitch, we're miles ahead of the ones that didn't.

Gave the green light on the Vanagon project yesterday. Now to get busy on the details.

I was a bit puzzled by the Vanagon , not something I had ever heard of, so I searched online for a clue. Now I think I know what you mean, that's a VW Caravelle to us in Europe ! They are much loved by many, especially the older models.

Good morning. A wet start to the day, a little dissapointing when all the forecasts had been much more promising. At least the rain clouds have kept the frost away.

Our son's girlfriend had wanted to have a go at driving a tractor and yesterday the weather picked up enough for me to talk her through the controls without me getting a soaking. She proved to be a fast learner and soon got the hang of things, doing exactly what I said. Even stopping and reversing a few inches to make it easier to slip back from 4 wheel to 2 wheel drive when moving from grass to concrete all came naturally. I had no hesitation in putting the pallet forks on the loader and letting her to do some real work, moving fence posts, collecting up the pellet feeder troughs and finally moving builder's bags full of firewood, all with incredibly smooth joystick control. What a girl !

Good Morning all. 48 here this morning going to 69 with 70% chance of showers, less than 1/10 of an inch. Got to go grocery shopping today and get a few things, and have to go to the dump sometime soon. Likely won't get to the dump today, don't want to over work by doing to much in one day.
