Just got a freight quote from TN to California for a RTV900 used... $2000 even.

I've shipped cars from Florida to California for $800 in the past.

Seems RTV require specials handling since they are not vehicles.

This fall or maybe it was after the 1st of the year? We retired a 700 Rhino and received a BRP Defender HD10 and have liked it much so far. Its purely a work machine, in fact I've only operated it while on snow and equipped with pods (ak tracks) Although this summer the pods will of course come off and its original wheels go back on. If anyone has interested in full review, just let me know. My spousal unit from from Ely MN.

With my ailing back so far the only UTV I can sit in without pain is the Yamaha Viking. What I don't like about the Viking is the single thumper engine's vibration and noise, the power steering that doesn't offer enough assist at stop to low speed, and lower fit and finish, or I should say "polish" insofar as thinking things out in comparison to the Ranger. However, while out tire kicking Ferris mowers (I'm thinking about purchasing an i700 with maybe the Vangard engine), that same dealer shared with me that Can-Am is coming out with a new UTV called the Defender.

Having Driven the new Pioneer 1000 from Honda (it hurt me, and was a little fiddly to get in like the Ranger, and Gator), the Polaris 900 (it too hurt me, and I wanted to like it), I'm hoping the Defender will pan out!

Here is some info on the Defender. Can-Am Defender Review | UTV Guide

We bought Kawasaki Mule with Cherry engine. It was advertised for 13K for base model but we added winch and power steering so at the end the out of door price was rather closer to 15K. So far I like how the engine sounds. I will report back after we put at least 50 hours on it to first oil changes.

Love hearing the feedback because of all the choices and configurations out there...

Well I just joined the mule 4010 trans 4x4 club. I chose this machine due to it's workhorse status. So far it's been nice. I like the fact that the bed can be converted into seats or vice versa.

Very interested in how it performs and if you have steep up and down terrain to navigate.

The Mule is still a contender for me... kind of put the UTV on hold with so many other things going on.

They must be good because I have come across some used on job sites and security with a couple of thousand hours.

Congratulations!

So far, I have been happy with our Intimidator. Very rugged, and can go pretty much anywhere that isn't vertical!.

Welcome to the club!!! Mine gets used for just about everything. Sunday we mixed and poured 24 sacks of readi mix concrete and put all the empty sacks in the back of the Mule. When we where done, we drove it to the burn pile. It's a little thing, but every day it gets used for something little that I never knew I needed it for. Of course, after emptying it, we went for a little drive around the place just for fun, and that's always very enjoyable!!!

+1. I am considering the Mule 4010, Mule Pro-FX EPS LE and Yamaha Viking EPS for late 2016 purchase thanks to all of these posts.

I drove the Mule 610 XC and 4010 today...

Pretty much ruled out the 610... was impressed with the 4010 which is what Eddie has... easy as pie with the power steering and shifting on both was a breeze.

As always... something always comes up.

The Dealer had just taken in on trade a 2009 Teryx 750 with 95 hours from an older gentleman he sold it new to... he traded to get one with a second seat to take his grandkids...

Was not looking for a Teryx at all... but this one is clean with the optional cast aluminum wheels, winch, etc...

So now I have do do my homework on Teryx... anybody care to comment?

Teryx is for going fast, Mule is for getting stuff done. There really isn't much to compare to each other.

Mule 610 looks like undestructable. I saw many in refineries, gas plants and remote oil and gas installation all abused and beat up but working. When we went to buy Mule we didn't like the single cylinder engine.
Teryx is fun (or for fun) machine I suppose while Mule is a work horse. Teryx is governed to 50 mph. The governor can be bypassed if more speed is desired.
I always look at used market and see how many low hours are for sale there. If there are many with low hours then I would assume that the machine might have issues. If there are few and expensive that might be sign that people are happy with them.

We put 5 hour on ours so far. I installed a winch on it which we already used to to unload heavy stuff from my trailer. The winch can pull 4000 lb but it would take 375A! I guess the motor will smoke if used longer than few seconds at that load. I used gauge 4 Cu wires from battery to the contactor and soldered all connections instead just crimping.

We have a 2008 Teryx in the family. It has been a very good machine.750cc twin, nice power and durable. My ony knock is the angle of the gas pedal, seams awkward to me.I have a 1998 Kawasaki ATV and it has been bullet proof.

How is the fuel economy? I know people with the Brute Force ATVs and they really use the gas.
I do know that the Teryx uses the same wheel bearings as the Yamaha 660 Grizzly ATV. Yamaha charges $71 and Kawasaki charges $17.

Couldn't say on fuel mileage,I have only driven it a few times(It belongs to my SIL).My new Viking(700cc FI)is suppose to get 18-20mpg.None of the large side by sides with the big motors are going to be great on fuel.Again the Teryx is well built solid machine;it would be my second choice after the Vikings.Used ones with low hours are hard to find;the one you found sounds like a keeper.I put 4,000 miles on my 2006 Yamaha Rhino with zero problems.

I have a JD Gator 855D. Prior to that I had a Teyrx....I liked it, it was a real hot rod. Gator is SLOW compared to the Teyrx.

#1 it is a gas hog....one reason I went to diesel. Always had problems with the gas cans.

#2 you can solve the gas pedal problem by putting a heel support to plant your foot...picture below.

Thanks for replies...

The Teryx wasn't even on the radar... it was only because one popped up at my Kubota/Kawasaki dealer...

Still thinking about it because it is the least expensive well cared for used I've come across... $7500

Keep in mind the Teryx will not have "turf mode" and will tear up your yard in turns due to the permanently locked rear differential.

/ Work UTV ... narrow down some choices please #339
I did not know that... there is a manual lever for locking the rear differential.

Really no yard as the property is farm Christmas Trees and Pasture.

The Teryx seemed to be very powerful... I have no need or desire for speed... just can't get my head around 12 to 18k with taxes and fees... never paid that much for my cars except for one.

Tested the Mule 610 yesterday and I think for buying new it would come up a little short all around.

Sounds like a pretty good price on the Teryx for the condition and low hours.
