Bet you have purple deadnettle also. It grows along with the Henbit and chickweed. I here you on the lawn. Once you get grass growing increase your cut height to 3" or more. It'll let the grass out compete some of the weeds.

Of the winter weeds the purple deadnettle is the worst one. They are host plants to SCN. SCN is very detrimental to yields in soybeans unless you test for them and plant the correct variety and resistance package. SCN=Soybean Cyst Nematodes. A fall herbicide can quickly pay for itself when used to reduce SCN numbers.

Good luck on the turkey scouting. Didn't realize season was this close. Will explain why my flocks of turkey's have left.

Yes, purple deadnettle is probably the most abundant of our weeds.

lots here too, pop up in my gardens so airborne from somewhere.
It reminds me of deer, pretty to look at but at the end of the day, undesirable.

Thank you all for your "Blue" fanfare for AutismSpeaks today. Attached is a recent picture of Finnly and one of her "Underwater Seascape" artwork. You have to zoom in close to see many of the details. I believe in the bottom right is a clamshell with a pearl in it. :)

Finnly has her blue on today too!

Hope you all have a great day!

44.9F and quite sunny here @ 13:00

Refrig picked up (and delivered) and the lower rake/toothbar straightened out as good as it's going to get ... probably only out by 1/16th or so at this point, which is close enough ... although it was still warm when I checked it. Probably could have gotten completely flat if it hadn't been so windy out ... but it is somewhat of a hit or miss process.

Have to check some of the specs for the grapple on the other computer and then up to the shop to continue the assembly process.

Blue pocket t-shirt and blue jeans ...

Surprisingly warm 69 degrees going up to 79 today in heavy rain starting around noon.

When I got married at age 30 I thought it was for life. Didn't/don't we all think that way?....
After 9 years of marriage my wife finally admitted she wanted kids, despite us clearly telling each other before hand
that was not in the cards for me, reasons not going into here for sure, and before we married, that was covered.
Well, no. So what to do with a person you love who wants kids and you don't?
You give her back your wedding ring and ask her to find another man who wants kids with her.
Which I did, with love.

And after remarrying, my ex found out she could not have kids, nor did in vitro work. So no kids.
Hmmm, the ironies of life...
At least she remarried a really nice guy.
So yes, we get along...I never did anything wrong but tell the truth, and she knows it.
We are friends and hope always to remain so.
My younger sister went to school with my ex, my brothers went to school with her brothers, not like there isn't a very long
term relationship here that went further than us; our parents were on the school board together.
Life in a small town.

Can't look back, have to look forward.
Only look back for three point implements...;)

Yeah, that makes sense. We didn't have kids either, and we are happy where we are in life. Seems like yesterday we were young...😊

Got my blue t shirt on. GM blue, the only blue t shirt I have! Blue GM sweatshirt over it, again, the only blue one I have. 30 years of uniform allowance left me with a lot of shirts.

Blue on,
Farmer, thanks for the purple deadnettle Info. Been too windy to spray. Used to use weed and feed around the house, but cut back due to cost.

Good afternoon,
Blue T shirt is all I got, sorry. Hope it will do.
Well I just got back from the house / duplex inspection on the place Katie our daughter and Dan are going to buy. Not too bad will need some roof repairs in the next 5 years or so but other wise move in condition. It is right next door to the one my son Russ had built back in 04 so it is 12 years old and the neighborhood now has nice trees and stuff but they are all on postage stamp lots. When Russ built there was no landscape. He has long since moved just funny they pick a place that is next door. 5 minutes from Katie's work and 15 from Dan's. About 50 miles from here or a bit less depending on how you go there.
Told them they could have my old Scott's 22" self propelled walk behind mower if they wanted it. I never use it here.

The wind here is pushing 50 to 60 MPH gust. The truck was showing 10 to 13 mpg fighting the wind and 30+ mpg with the wind at my back.

Have a good one.

Don, Drew, et al.

The vast majority of my life, vacations have been mostly a destination type, sometimes a bit of sightseeing etc along the way. All too many also meant some time involving non leisurely activities. This trip is completely different, the journey is vacation.

Here is the overall travel plan:
Hilo to LAX - United
LA to Sacramento - Amtrak Roomette - Coast Starlight
Sacramento to Chicago - Amtrak Bedroom - California Zephyr
Chicago to Washington DC - Amtrak Bedroom - Capitol Limited
Washington DC - Mayflower
Washington to Ft Lauderdale - Amtrak Bedroom - Silver Meteor
Ft Lauderdale - Renaissance
Ft Lauderdale to San Diego via Panama Canal - Holland America Cruise
San Diego to Lax to Hilo - United

What a wonderful trip itinerary. Hope yall have a great time.

Thanks again all for all the Blue. Autism is becoming more common each year. I pray they can figure out what is causing it.

Farmer, I pray for your son and for you and your wife. While the disease can bring frustrating moments, I wouldn't change a thing about our Finnly, she is a blessing to our family.

David,
That sounds like a great trip and some of the best rail routs in the US. We did Chicago/Joliet to TX back in the 90s and had the sleeper cabin 1st class. It was great. Enjoy the trip.

rain stopped, day cleared up, beautiful blue sky out, about 60 degrees and the Burpee seeds came in.
Well.....not going to wait on them. So edible pod peas, blue Lake and Tenderpod bush beans and cucumbers planted today. So easy to plant, just push the seeds with one finger.
Only used about a quarter of the seeds they sent me.

What's the best way of keeping seeds for the next year?
I'm going to put a few in pots, but otherwise will use most next year.
What helps preserve second year germination?
