Yep, it's that time of year again, so I just got through resetting 11 clocks so they'll have Daylight Savings Time tomorrow. I still wish they'd pick a time and stay with it instead of changing twice a year.

Completely agree with you, Bird. Will someone please offer a logical explanation how changing our clocks twice a year benefits anyone.

Good one Mike!!!!

I remember when it was a big deal to me, but that went away with retirement. Now I listen to my Sons complain about it.

Not to tease the OP, but I'm like a Bird, I get up at daylight and go to bed at dusk, doesn't matter much what the clock says. :)

I think we should spring ahead and fall ahead even further so that it's not dark at 6pm in the winter. ..would be nice to have a couple of hours daylight in the winter for after work to be able to do things outside...

Yep, that was always my thoughts as well.

Only reason I've ever heard for not staying on DST that made any sense was kids getting on the bus before daylight.

I long for the time I can say your last sentence. A good friend and coworker of mine retired not long ago, he said he threw away his alarm clock. :)

Is this the normal date for the US to change? Most of the world that changes does so at 2a.m. on the Sunday morning following the last Saturday in March - Easter Sunday this year.

The problem with having later dusk in winter (by keeping the clocks on summer time) is, as already posted, that it is dark later in the mornings. We all know that most people arrive at work when they have to and not before, so there are millions upon millions of cars being driven faster than they should and more accidents happen. It was tried in the UK in about 1970, forget the exact year. Not a good experience.

Here is how it all started BBC - Future - The builder who changed how the world keeps time

Me 3. It's really dumb and if anything it's backwards. I think we're supposed to have dumping it on the ballot soon. I'll vote to dump it like a bad dream.

You'll get there, it just doesn't seem like it now.

Yep. We don't have any clock in the bedroom.

For me, there's only 2 days in the week. Saturday and Sunday. 6 Saturdays and 1 Sunday. :)

I hate the current time. It's dark by 4:30 in the winter. I'd be happy to spring ahead about 3 hours from the current time.

So set your watch ahead three hours and go about your business. LOL Heck it's OK the way it is with me. At my age I'm up at three AM half the time anyway and I'm usually gone shortly after dinner.

Actually, DST was in vented by Orthopaedic Surgeons.........so as to get an increase in the business.......i.e. all of us old folks climbing around changing wall clocks with old batteries and and flimsy hangers.... It's good for their business fixing all those broken bones and sprains.:D

Then I'd be 3 hours early everywhere.

I've always heard it was the golfers so they could get the back nine in after work.

We don't have any clock in the bedroom.

We have a little clock/radio in the bedroom. It's a little over 12 years old and I had occasion to set the alarm (can't remember why) several years ago . . . . and it didn't work. I still don't know whether it's defective or whether I failed to set it correctly. But I don't guess it matters since we don't use the alarm or the radio.

Reminds me of 20 years ago I was visiting Mom. Said, "Mom your clock isn't right". She said "Oh, it doesn't matter, doesn't work anyway". I didn't bother to ask why it was still hanging on the wall. I know now. :)

How about instead of changing clocks twice a year, just change business/work times instead?

Have winter hours and summer hours. In winter, work from 8 to 5, then in summer change it to 7 to 4.
