Hi.

Was troubleshooting power loss on my BX23. It is the battery cable. But I pulled two main fuses to test continuity. They are on the right side of the engine bay, near oil filter at bottom of the cowl.

Here's my problem: I don't remember which fuse came from which socket. One fuse is 50A, the other 30A. The wire gauge and sockets appear identical. One socket is closer to the front, with two red wires. The other socket is toward the rear, with one visible red wire and the other taped into the harness...

They are visible without pulling the cowl. Could somebody please take a peek and tell me WHICH FUSE GOES WHERE?? Fuse rating is on the end cap, no need to pull one.

Thanks for any help,

Russell in Texas

Use your multi-meter and test from the fuse to the red wire on the starter solenoid. If you get zero you know that wire goes to the starter solenoid.
Most starter solenoids I have worked with are 30 amp.

Hope that helps

Oh, the plot thickens. Loader is in a position where I can't get cowl off. Have to get it running to deal with that. Murphy was an optimist...

Not sure how old your tractor is but most fuse boxes have a scematic or map on the inside of the lid.. should tell you the amp for each slot. if it has a fuse box.

If not stick a 30 in both and the first one that blows should have been a 50. But don't put a 50 in both.

Try going to Kubota.com, look up the electrical DIAGRAM for your model. They're usually detailed enough to figure out what you need and what goes where.

Just looked at mine and don't have anything looking like fuses or fuse holder close to the oil filter. Then again it's very tight on the cowl, not much room to really explore.

Try this http://kpadweb.kubota.co.jp/kpad2/PartsInfo.do?bookCd=100K1505&funcCd=&figNo=&himban=&dispType=0
Looks like the 50 goes near the hinge, the 30 on the outside, but please don't take my word for it, look it up yourself and decide.
This is for my tractor, but they're the same frame. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have the same electrical system.
Without the cowl off I couldn't even see it. Good Luck Keep us posted and PICS!

I went out to look at my BX2360. I only see one fuse under the hood. I got my manual out and it says the 50A fuse is a slow burn fuse to protect the system if the battery is hooked up wrong. So the tractor won't start with the 50A fuse out. So put the 50A fuse in the top fuse holder and try to start the tractor. That is the fuse holder that is on my BX2360. My other fuses are back beside the battery and the cover has to come off to get to them. Let us know how you make out.

I am thinking the 30A is alternator and 50A is the main coming off the battery connection at starter. When I put the alternator kit on the BX2230 the new harness added one of the fuses.

After closer inspection. I'm wrong, there is only 1 - 50 amp "sloblo" in that holder, and I see no reference to a 30.

I just looked at my 2230. It has one fuse directly in line with the oil filter. It has two red wires going into the socket. It's 30 amps.
The socket is taped to a wire loom. I didn't see a 50 amp fuse. My 2230 should be the same as the 23 unless you installed the alternator kit.

My BX 2360 has a 50A where your 30A is. I checked the manual and it says it is a 50A and is there to protect the system if the battery is hooked up wrong. So if this fuse is blown or out there should not be battery power to any thing.

I just have one 50A on my BX2360 as well. All the rest are 10's and 15's, one 20.

Kubota Parts List for BX2230 (and BX23, presumably), also shows only the one 30a fuse near the oil filter. There are also 4 15a and 2 20a fuses in the fuseblock behind the instrument cluster. No 50a fuse noted. Possibly a homebrew add-on?

I've had my BX2360 since it was new. 1.4 hours. The 50a fuse hasn't been touched (knock on wood). No kits.

BX2230 and BX23 made from 2003-2006. BX2360 made from 2009-2013. No surprise if newer tractor has uprated elect. output needing higher capacity fuses, but what's the additional 50a fuse for on the 10+ year old tractor? I dunno and the factory parts diagram doesn't show it either.
