They poured both garages today. Only got a picture of the detached garage because they were still working on the other one...

Just a thought. Normally here they screw a 3/4" wood strip on top of the form board at the overhead doors set to floor height. After concrete is screeded level and set a bit, they remove the 3/4" strip then cut a taper to the door location so water drains away from door instead of having a chance to go inside.

That'd a good catch. I will talk to the builder. Water in the garage is frustrating.

Framing starts today! Caught the first truck before leaving for work. I passed two more trucks on the way to work.

I've never seen your technique used, but I'm sure every crew has their own way of doing it. On the jobs I've had done or been on, there is always that one guy who cuts and smooths out the slope for draining water at the garage door with a trowel. Usually takes him a few minutes to do each one.

In the picture, it looks to me like it was done. I see what looks like an angle in the concrete next to the block columns.

Common practice around here for years, then they can run the screed & power trowel over the short ramp and edge a hair easier I imagine. Usually ramp to just past front of door. It looks like he has a small taper troweled in his, hard to see.

I highly recommend pouring a skin coat in the crawl space. Out here we refer to them as gopher slabs. Keeps the critters out.

Are they going to block in between the long floor joist spans?

How is the sill plate attached to the bottom of those beams that the joists are resting on? I don't think that I have ever seen it done that way and I'm unsure of how secure the joists are towards the middle of the span resting on the flat sill plate attached to the bottom of the beam.

Eddie,

Are you asking how the wood is connected to the piers?
