Worth the wait! This hydraulic top link far exceeded my expectations, it's a lovely piece of work. I'll let the pictures do all the talking.

You will be amazed with versatility of the top link.

You'll be equally amazed at how well a side link helps...

I have the same top link from Fitrite for my Kubota M6040. Bought two years ago - $395.

I totally understand the money obstacle in tractor additions like TnT. And I would never pressure anyone to spend that money uncomfortably.

With that said, in my case, it's frequency of use is only second to 3rd function on the FEL. And that is certainly open for debate.

Congrats on the addition.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and after seeing the install and quality and remembering how many times I have gotten on and off the tractor to fine tune. this will make things simple.

On question, and this may sound dumb. Currently when I hook up I have the tractor off and adjust the top link to the size needed as I work the top pin in. I also usually have the lower quick adjust links extended too. Once hooked up I raise the unit to get the lower extension to lock home, lower the unit and then re adjust and lock down the top link.

I'm guessing how I need to leave the tractor running to extend or shorten the top link as needed, or can it be pushed in by hand with the tractor off if it is extended? I am a little hesitant to hook up with the tractor running. I'm guessing all other adjustment will be from the seat. Am I thinking correctly? Depending where I park the attachment, sometimes it is a time consuming process to get the top hooked up

You might be able to extend the cylinder, leave the lever in the "float" position if you have that function, then shut the tractor off and retract the cylinder by hand?? Depending on how strong you are.

All of my 3-point implements sit on pallets. This gives me enough "wiggle room" to hook up without the tractor running. At times its not really that easy - I have a LARGE pry bar to assist in moving any implements on a pallet. I have no Quick Hitch and I will not attempt a hook up with the tractor running.

It might be a lot more difficult to hook up if I had a cab and could not get such a good view.

I can not extend/retract the top link by hand - - with tractor on or off. I've tried.

Not arguing, just saying, I never shut my tractor off while hitching to an implement. I've never considered doing that. Am I missing something?

Sounds like you need one of these on the end of your top link.

ovrszd,
I would hitch while that tractor is running also - except, I'm all alone out here & the nearest neighbor is 5 miles away. Any situation I happen to get myself into - I have to expect to get out of myself. I'm not talking about the occasional pinch, bump or knock. I don't carry my cell phone either - at best I get two bars and at least 75% of all calls are dropped before they go thru. - including 911. My phone bill shows 5 of 100 calls go to completion.

Its a PITA (get close, shutdown & connect) some times but a better alternative to a much more serious situation.

In any case - I've found the hydraulic top link to be a real helpful addition.

A (related) little easy modification that is nice with a hyd. toplink and is a big aid in attachment hook up is a little lever so that you can actuate your rear remote's from the ground (behind the tractor). I did this to all 3 valves to operate the log winch from the back, it might not be as big of an issue with a smaller tractor that you can reach over the fender to operate the rear remotes. It was pretty simple to do, at least with Kubota's valve arrangement. Yes, those are old sockets for handles:laughing:

Wow!! Real Yankee ingenuity. I will definitely look at something like that.

Lucky for me, my hyd levers are easy to reach from the rear.

I did the same thing too, I need to go a head and do the remaining two remotes now.
