just wondering if there is any adjustment that can be made on the shuttle shift on my L2550 gst? Some times when i shift from neutral to either forward or reverse , the lever doesn't seem to engage the trans into whichever direction i want to go. It almost acts like the lever isn't moving far enough to engage it completely or it is hitting a stop . If i push it harder it will engage. Its almost like it needs more travel. It that possible . The tractor only has 812 hrs on it. thanks....

hello, once had a manual shuttle shift on a L4400. assuming it's not hydraulic but rather manual clutch (dry type), there are 2 separate adj. one at the clutch pedal, one at the shuttle shift linkage (cable or direct rod type) ... your problem might be corrected in either of those 2 adjustments. does your owners manual cover those adjustments?...wise to post here for info on that, but i would also ask your service dept/dealership for more advice (to ensure no damage to partially engaging a dry clutch plate with improper adjustment). apologize for confusing reply, just don't run it with partial engagement in either direction till you get it right.

I have a L2550DT with over 5000 hours on it. Is it the clutch or shift linkage in question?
is there any clutch slippage in gear under load? check the gear shift and shuttle shift linkage, there are some connections that could have worked loose, happened to my gear shift linkage on mine new right off the dealership. i would also be in touch with your service dept/dealership as well for advice...they might even run off the adjustment info from their on line shop manual best regards

My recollection is that I had a problem with the engagement of the transmission in third gear. The gear was not engaging fully and when coming down a hill it would occasionally pop out of gear.
Working off memory, I shifted the tractor into third gear and went under the tractor and followed the linkage to the transmission (after putting the bucket on the ground and locking the brakes and shutting down the engine and blocking the wheels). I went under the tractor and disconnected the linkage from the transmission and then checked that the shift arms from the transmission were doing a full travel. If they could be moved further than the shift linkage was pushing or pulling them then I adjusted the linkage enough to put the levers full into the position but not push against the shift arms. You may give that a shot.
