How's everyone doing with the SNOW

My wife still grumbles every time the weatherman says "possibility of light dusting of snow". Yeah right, it was 68F a couple days ago and high 40's on the cold days. I like to see the white stuff rather than the dead grass and bare trees. I leave a few pines for the winter greenery effect. We usually get one or two snows of 4-6" each year, but I don't think we will this year.

In any event, I don't have to plow snow so it is nice to see and a welcomed sight in winter.

I found a 78" International 3PT snow blower on CL this morning...e-mailed a reply. Hopefully the seller will call or e-mail a response.
This one has hydraulic chute rotation...the only reason I sold my Woods blower is because it didn't have hydraulics. Well, it wasn't QH compatible either. Great snow blower though.
We seem to be getting nuisance snows this winter...all 1 or 2 inches. If I can't find a snow blower, I'd be fine if that's all we get this winter. I put off looking for a snow plow last year...paid for it today. I chunked up a pretty fair sized (maybe a couple square feet) piece of the asphalt drive way this morning when clearing with the bucket.

Lots of snow last night indeed. Around 60cm

I started plowing at 9:30am and finished around 7:00pm
My yard, my sisters and grandparents. Solid start to the snow count.

First plowable snow tonite. 4-6 inches projected.

We got a little at Thanksgiving, but it melted off after a week or so. Was only 3", perhaps. Nov & Dec were very warm thanks to El Nino, other than that storm. It turned around Xmas and into Jan. We got a good 8" in one storm, and then another 3-4" (or maybe I have those reversed...not sure). Not much since then but it has been very cold the past week or more. Today was really cold down into the -15-20 range (F) overnight and only -5 or so during the day. That is typical for Jan, but I was hoping we would have a really mild winter for once...We got some nice weather, but Jan is still Jan, it seems. Supposed to break later in the week, so we'll see how it goes from there. I think I have plowed 4 times total so far. About the same as all last year. We were quite cold but not much snow last year.

Yesterday we got snow, but it didn't amount to much. I was unloading some wood from the truck when the game camera took this:

It is cold today, we hit 2.8 at 07:05:00, right now it is 9.1. The temperatures are from my homemade weather station using Dallas 1-wire sensors and software that I wrote.

Like to see some snow, but I wouldn't want to clear the 2/10 mile driveway in this temperatures with my open works station.

I think Waxman put the whammy on us. A big one might be coming this weekend, Elizabeth!

Ha, this AM I used two shovels to take care of the 1" or 2" lake effect snow we had overnight. From what I hear tonight the weatherman seems to thing Saturday night into Sunday a major snow storm may effect our area upstate, humn them maybe I'll have to get the big boy out to do a little snow removal.

The great lake effect snow machine is keeping most Michigan members too busy to post!
60-70 inches since Wednesday here and I'm sure some in the U P have it worse.
Have fun out there!

The weather folks in Roanoke Va have their tighties in a knot because weather models are predicting 15" to 28" of snow beginning Thurs. night into Sat. If the models are correct anywhere in that range will surely cripple this area. Much like other areas this winter has been unseasonably warm with average temps for Dec. was 48 deg. with plenty of days into the 60's to low 70's. Though being equipped to handle said amounts of snow I would be just tickled to not have any of that snow here at our mini farm. Chicken will have to remain cooped up as they tend to have issues getting back to the hen house after any measure of that fluffy white stuff. Anyways I will keep you posted as what really happens as the event unfolds.

I hear that southern Ontario around Lake Ontario got some nasty weather, but up here in Northern Ontario all we got was cold. -16F yesterday morning and again this morning.

The last snow (about 1/2") blew away during the night. It's 20F right now and we're forcast the first snow storm of this winter. Possible accumulation from Fri nite to Saturday nite is 5-11" with temps between 19-26F. NO big deal.

Nothing too bad so far. Hoping we might melt a bit off this week. Im finding my little vermeer works great pushing snow. The weight of the machine, foamed tires, and good chains gives me lots of traction and the 6 way blade is really handy.

Well.......after a warm start to the season, old man winter dropped by, and he was TICKED!! Northern Virginia has been nearly tropical until late last week, thrilled that it MAY get to freezing for a high today!

They're now calling for a blizzard Friday into Sunday morning with a possible 2' accumulation! I think I might put the chains on the tractor.

Quick, bread, milk, toilet paper! It's, it's, it's..........SNOWMAGEDDON! See you guys if I survive, if not....remember me well, and NO, you cannot offer my widow 1/2 price for my tractor!

I have been in Va. and NC. during some significant snow storms. You won't have to worry too much about it. Even if you do clean your driveway out it will be several days before the roads are driveable so you won't be able to get any farther than the end of your driveway..

It's great fun to get out with a plow in 4" of snow. 5-7" of snow is just fun. Then 18-24+" is Work!! Once I get into it though I like to help out neighbors and family
