I mean a 3 point log splitter

the tractor hydraulics don't put out enough flow to run the splitter efficiently. the splitters typically have an 11gpm pump while the 3016 has an output of 7.8.

it would run very slowly.

I used to run on my bx2200 with out a problem for years I think that had a 5.7 gpm pump interesting

I think that will just affect cycle time

that's what i meant when i said it would run slowly. it would be much slower going in both directions. it will still generate the same splitting force but it will take longer to split and withdraw the wedge.

But I could use the lines for the backhoe right because I still have that splitter

When I remove the backhoe to put on the splitter, I use the rear remotes. The next time I split I will try the backhoe connections. As far as speed goes....I never have to wait with the Split Fire as it splits both ways. (Don't have to wait for the blade to return)

How do you like it... would you buy it again if you had it to do over?

Considering one for the L3800

I love my split fire also. I agree I'm never waiting on the spliter. how long have you had yours?

It takes 3 people to ensure little to no downtime. One to supply wood to the lift or table, one operate / manipulate the wood and splitter, one to clear and stack or bag the wood. With 2 people the splitter is idle probably 30% - 40% of the time especially splitting ash as it only takes about 4" of stroke most of the time. I found it takes ~ 10 minutes additional time to split and stack per 1/3 cord simultaneously as opposed to splitting into a pile. to stack from a pile to 1/3 cord takes me about 20-30 minutes depending on how far I have to move the wood.

I run my tractor at 1800-2000 rpm when spliting with 2 people it's plenty fast. although I believe my tractors max flow is 17.1 GPM at ~2700 rpm

get the 4 way, and log lift it's an awesome table. you can easily fit 16" pieces next to one another on the table. if you cut to longer that 16" consider one of the larger lengths. the 24" is like 32.5-33" between the uprights so you can just barely fit 2 16" pieces on the splitter at the same time. If I could do it again I would go with a 28" model.

that's a tremendous flow difference over the OP's and most people who post with the same question.

I really like the splitter and have had it for two years...no regrets at all. Canadian made so with our dollar in the tank, chances are it would be a bargain for Americans.

I sent an e-mail for more information...

This way my splitter can stay home and my brother will have the 3 point he wanted all along.

His Lopi stove is small... it works terrific... just have to be careful not to cut too big or wood won't fit.

They were thinking getting rid of it when they bought the home... insurance had all kinds of questions and was OK when the seller had a permit for it...

They also have all the oak anyone could want... so the family room is now the most popular place in the home every night... doesn't take much to really warm things up.

Can the 3 point be lowered to the ground to avoid extra lifting?

Yes the 3pt can be lowered. but for $500 the log lift was more than worth it since it doubles as a table.
