I have been toying with the idea of replacing my 425 with a X740. Has the 7 iron 60 inch deck with 214 hours and is a 2012. I have done allot of research on the net and not finding anything close to the price asked. 5790.00 I am thinking this is a great price but need some reassurance from those in the know. I am thinking they don't want to carry it into the winter months but am pretty well convinced, if they do, they will want much more for it next spring. Any thoughts are appreciated. Also hoping this machine is enough better than my 425 to make it worth the money.

That's an ultra great price, almost makes you wonder what's wrong with it? Should still be under warranty though.

Ya, I don't know. I sure couldn't see anything wrong with it and it started right up! There are other 740s that are for sale in the area but as far as I can tell, the avg. price for a similar machine is over 8000. some higher but not many lower. I think maybe I will just go ahead and buy it outright because I don't think they will offer me enough for my 425 anyway.

That will have the 904cc engine as the last of the 1116cc engine was 2010. There is a low hour 2012 x744 here for $7500.

I wouldn't hesitate on that one. I had a 455 and traded to a 495 and eventually to a 2010 X740. A never really liked the 455 because the body style seemed a little small where the X740 is a little bigger, which I like. Ton's of power and fuel efficiency is great. Love those Yanmar diesels. I have 425 hours on mine and thought about trading, but it is such a good mowing machine I think I will have it for the duration.
Is the motor a good thing?
