A big hot pepper harvest tonight. Hungarian Wax, Hot Portugal. Hot Italian Cherry and Jalapeño. No chilies though got planted though and too bad because they are favorite of mine too...grill roasted and stuffed with cheese!![]()
Everything else is still yielding heavy right now too! Eggplant, gladiolus, sweet peppers and lots of tomatoes for me. Blueberries are still holding up well too.
We have a good solid week to 10 days of late summer heat and no rain coming on here per the current forecast. Not looking forward to THAT :confused2:

Go for it... if you didn't you will be kicking yourself. If you do, worse case is you will huff a bit.I've been meaning to look back at my last planting of peas and figure out if there is reason to put more seeds in the dirt. Here are the numbers:
Planted 7-22
First bloom 8-23
First peas 8-30
First picking {forecast} 9-5
Average first frost for Tallahassee Florida 10-28
That doesn't leave much wiggle room, but I think I'll go ahead and plant in the morning. It's not a great above ground day, but the next good day would be 13-15th. By then I think it would be too late. Our late peas have done so much better than the early ones, I hate to see the season end.

Here in N.E. GA...(my garden anyway)...the tomatoes are shot and just finding the last of the acorn squash...Have cabbage, kale and collards looking good...
@L.D....How do you fix acorn squash?...
My go to way is just half them and fill the seed pockets with butter and brown sugar...then grill, bake or microwave them...
The most famous restaurant around (Dillard House) has a recipe for an acorn squash casserole that is unreal good...!

Finally had a decent rain shower last night after what has s been a good couple of weeks of brutal 80-90 degree weather. Had to toss a whole set of green bell peppers they just shriveled up on the plants due to lack of water and the direct hot sun. Some tomatoes got sunburned but overall were ok along with most all the eggplant. Even the gladiolus didn't want to flower much and the ones that did bloomed and went by in just a few days.
Supposed to be cooler weather now have a lot of stems to mature still. Cooked up another huge batch of tomatoes to freeze for sauce my second round of them, and there is at least one more round to go. 6 Roma plants gave an abundant yield of plum tomatoes along with my 12 Celebrity's. Big eggplant harvest coming up maybe this weekend it looks like from 18 plants must have 3 dozen or more sized up ready to pick. Most of the plants have 4 or five fruit each. I have 5 huge ones in the refrigerator to make more parm with already.
My hot peppers and the Cubanelle's seemed to do the best during that heat wave. picked these few while finding some time to care for my garden yesterday morning before work.
