Lift, wheels and tires are next. Probably ordering those this week. Doing a 6" lift and he wants 20x12 rims with 33" mud terrain tires. Just checking if the geometry will work with that combo. I don't want to have to cut for clearance. Ill tell him to go chrome and I think he is leaning that direction.

I agree with the others either don't do the 6" lift or don't do 33's. I'd level and do 33's I have a PW running 35's the power wagons come with a 2" lift from the factory I can show you a pic if you want a reference for stance. Make sure you research the correct back space for the rims. That will cause clearance issues more than anything else.

Ok all this talk about the 33 inch tires. It is questionable if 33's are going to clear the fender and bumper the way it is. 35's are probably a no go for sure unless we narrow the wheel and tire which isn't the look he is after. I personally would want a bigger narrower tire but some desire this stretched style. I'll make sure he sees these comments though. Any of you under the age of 20 who have commented? Lol

I'm 30 but have had lifted trucks or SUVs since I was 15. 33s will make it look like the truck missed leg day. My wife has a 13 f150 leveled on 295/70s which are almost 34.5" tall. They clear and look great. A 6" lift is huge also. I recommend a leveling kit or 4" lift max with 35s. It raises the cog and rolls easier.

I would check the gearing too. That has a huge impact on tire size choice. Or are you going to re gear too?

I'm 57 lol. I just like the trucks with lift and oversize tires, and the wide stance look to go with it. Have been driving lifted trucks since '82. Although, I will admit that now I just have the RC 3.5" lift kit on my Silverado, and I'm currently running a set of 285 tires. My next tires will be a little bit bigger though. Sometimes I wish I had gone with the 6" lift kit, but I didn't want the tailgate to be 4 1/2ft off the ground since I need to climb up in the bed sometimes, so I kept it reasonable.

Ever have a 12 inch wide wheel? Stock is 7" so that is a huge change and they will stick out a lot from the truck thus needing more room. Maybe someone can chime in and tell us if 35s will fit with 12 inch wheels.

Why in the world would you want a 12" wide wheel? Cali look? Back spacing helps with the wheel width also. I'd get a 9-10" wheel with a 35x12.50 tire and call it good. Seems like this project is getting over complicated. No trying to railroad you but order a 4" lift (rancho, procomp, fabtech etc) 35x12.50x18 tire and whatever wheel he picks. The 18 will give you more tire choices, cheaper cost, and better ride than a 20 or larger. I can't stand to see nice trucks turned into brodozers.

I know he's your boy and went thru a terrible trama so I hope this is a fun experience for you both and not just giving into to every whim and want. Would be a great budgeting experience. When I lifted my first ifs at 16 I had 3k set aside for everything. Now days that might cover tires and wheels.

As my original post suggested, I and most of us wouldn't want a 12 inch wide wheel. As far as cost, there isn't much cost difference in choosing that wheel and a 6 inch lift vs smaller lift and wheels. We are still investigating the options and appreciate your opinions. He is wanting something not common and it sounds like from the sounds of things, this is not common. We share see.

You are correct, wheels and tires are about 2900 mounted and delivered. My goal is making sure the vehicle remains safe and the work is done properly. Leaving the style up to him.

Be sure you really want the Flowmaster 40s. I like mine but for the cabin drone at certain RPM, especially when pulling a grade.
