I'm a fairly new member to the flail nation. I read on these forums that greasing the flail is very important. The manual calls for ep2 grease. I was wondering what grease would be best to use. There are so many different choices. Would synthetic be best?

The EP2 high temperature grease lubricants are fine, please do not use synthetic grease in your flail mower.

Use no more than 6 pumps in the flail mowers rotor bearings at each mowing.

Any molybedenum EP2 grease is fine, the Lucas tacky red has to be able to melt well enough to
coat the inner race, rollers and outer race effectively.

The major thing to worry about is the high operating temperature as the rotor at the shaft
weldment is spinning a at around 2,200 rpm +- at the 540 RPM Engine speed for the rear
power take off.

Is the 2 in ep2 the thickness? Most greases don't say ep2, but I guess I should go for a grease that states "extreme pressure" and no2? Would mystik jt6 multi purpose be a good choice. Thanks

EP2 grease is an extreme pressure grease is a lithium-soap thickened grease for extreme pressures.
Lithium greases are non corrosive and adhere well to metal.

If you can cross reference the Mystik JT6 with the EP2 and the specs match exactly you should have
no issues.
