And there is also the unspoken assumption that Cabelas fails to add any value, when in point of fact, Cabelas bring to the table value--the least of which is, will still be in business next year.

How you figure that? I just noticed that price did not come with a FEL.

They've dropped a big percentage in price from last summer to now. I think they've listened to a lot of us who'd written them off for the 30% surcharge for TYM in green paint. When they were first unveiled, the price was laughable - Deere's were cheaper. Now they've settled into being in line with the SE Asia tractors and they're making progress in producing sales. Someone over-valued the Cabela's brand in this market, or they were just experimenting to see how high people would go. It's often the case when releasing a new brand you start high because that leaves you room to come down. If you start too low, you have a hard road to raise prices without market backlash.

Cabelas is a marketing genius. Just by selling tractors they generated 17 pages of posts on here, being mentioned hundreds of times without paying a dime for advertising. For some reason I now feel the need to browse the cabelas website.

They have some nice stuff to sell from time to time. :) They didn't get where they are by not being good at something.

If TYM were to go under, or stop making parts, etc, it won't make any difference if Cabela's is still in business. I don't see them adding much value at all...just being a big company with what is essentially a handful of dealerships doesn't amount to much.

We have Cabela's here in town. Ive walked around the tractors many times. They are good looking tractors with nice fit and finish. I don't think there marketing to farmers or construction companies but to a guy with a hunting lease, he wants to take care of. You don't see a guy hauling his cow's to the auction with a Nissan Titan and i don't think you will see a guy bailing 200 round bails with a Cabela's tractor.

LOL good point ... But it sure isn't good publicity. Makes me wonder if Cabela's even thought to consider how intelligent the online community was, and how accessible the information was, allowing people to get to the bottom of the tractors origins. My assumption is that their marketing strategy is to pander to the uninformed.

Personally, even if the prices were even, I would not likely buy a tractor from Cabella's... Not while TYM is marketing and selling under their own name. Seems like a safer bet to buy from TYM.

What is with the suspicion? If mom and pop picked up a tractor dealer, nobody would care and wish them well, but if Cabelas does a classic value add, whoa, that's never gonna work!

I am sure people said that about Bobcat's tractor line too, but they dropped them like a hot potato when sales weren't working out.

One thing I have continually seen with "house re-brand" product lines over the years is that the "house" frequently changes their supplier when it suits them. Cabelas will do what's good for Cabelas, and I wouldn't count on them sticking with TYM over the long haul, or even sticking with a tractor line for that matter.

No suspicion, and I don't wish for them to fail by any means... I've never been to Cabella's and probably never will unless a store goes up in my area.

But, I feel offended as a consumer when a company tries to pass off a machine for thousands more then what is available from the company directly, and who sends reps to this forum in an effort to drum up support without specifics regarding pricing. Its feels desperate and underhanded, but maybe that is just my opinion.

Personally, I think it would have worked just as well if Cabelas decided to retail TYM branded tractors, and became an authorized retailer and service center.

You never know. Bass Pro makes their own boats and are dealers of Mercury outboards, Arctic Cat atv/ utvs

Cabelas sells boats too but I forget what brand as well as Nissan outboards

Maybe Bass Pro could strike up a deal as a Yanmar or Mahindra or some other popular but not necessarily on every street corner brand things could get interesting

Ya, maybe if Bass Pro picked up Mahindra they might sell the 10 series Mahindra giving TYM more business.

Was in Green Bay Cabelas Monday. I asked about the web price with the eligible free implements. He looked at me like, "we have a website?"
Had to show him on the web and explain then he went to talk to another salesman. Came back and said yes to $17,399, but with only 1 free implement. Then I told him I wasn't impressed by the oil under both the front axle and the back. Not buying a Cabelas.

i'll stick with JD b/c I can still walk in and get parts for my 1978 JD212 any day of the week. I can do that for ANY product they have.

I sold my LS McCormichk 47hp w/ cab I bought brand new b/c after 400 hours it started pouring oil. they bolts and block stretched or something they said and they had to order a new block. Luckily it was under warranty still. It took 4 months to fix it b/c they had to retool the line in France b/c they didn't even make that engine anymore! So what are the chances when it happens again and its out of warranty.. I doubt they'd stop production again. now you have a 35k paper weight.
