Backhoe trans problem

I have a ford/nh 2120 12 speed f n r on left 1-2-3-4 on right..tractor will be pulling fine then all the sudden its like it kicks into neutral riv it up shift into different gear, go from high to med or low range nothing helps. After a little time it just starts pulling again. Dont matter if u move gears or anything or if u just sit and dont touch anything it will adventualy start pulling again....Any ideas...

It is a 4x4

I'm willing to bet your shift linkage bushings are worn out.

Tractor is 1984 model, shuttle shift..
linkage bushings are good.. black box under steering wheel appears to b good. single wire going in top of it has 13 volts and both wires coming out of bottom of it has 13 volts.

How many hours on it? Does the range lever feel like it's fully engaging the gears (mine doesn't always)? This is a gear shuttle, not hydraulic, right? I assume also the clutch is not disintegrating.

It is gear shuttle, when it takes these spells I have tried switching from high to med to low range nothing happens. Clutch feels and sounds fine when it starts working again it will pull and everything clutch dont slip at all

Well what is there that's not a hardened steel gear between engine and drive - the clutch, right? Some splines here and there?
Do you know the correct hours? Could this clutch have been abused some time in its history?
Maybe Rick B will weigh in - he da man.

Not sure on hrs. I was told it has electrical selinoids that makes it go into forward and reverse. Ill check those next.

Tractor is fixed....it was control box..little black box under steering wheel down at bottom ...
