Don't have time to waste thinking about this.
I have work to do...I'm a farmer ! :censored:

Ever hear of the prime directive? "They" have been here for a very long time and if they had wanted to do us harm we'd be toast by now. Seems "they" may have given us religion. What has the human race been fighting over ever since?

Yep, sure have. I have watched ever episode of TOS, TNG, DS9, Enterprise, and yes even Voyager.

Sure, we can have faith that we will move beyond these limitations, just like the people who used to ride horses to get places did. However, I think we are at about the maximum level that we can get when it comes to these very serious limitations.

And I do not. We ain't seen nothing yet... :)

Speed of light will be considered "snail's pace" in the future.

I hope you are right Richard.

First we have to envision a thing. In other words, "just think it up". Then work out the science to potentially make it feasible, then work towards implementation, Then deploy it, than bug test it and improve it. Lots of steps, but when Otto, made his first gasoline engine, it was a lot of steps to get that far, and now we get in our cars and trucks and zoom down the road, and we don't even think about what we are doing, and all the work it took to get there.. Nope, we are heading to the 7-11 to buy some suds!:drink: That is as far as a lot of people think.

True that James. :)

Fast radio bursts from 5.5 billion light years away.

Extremely short, sharp flash of radio waves from unknown source in the universe, caught as it was happening -- ScienceDaily
A strange phenomenon has been observed by astronomers right as it was happening -- a 'fast radio burst'. The eruption is described as an extremely short, sharp flash of radio waves from an unknown source in the universe.

"The theories are now that the radio wave burst might be linked to a very compact type of object -- such as neutron stars or black holes and the bursts could be connected to collisions or 'star quakes'. Now we know more about what we should be looking for," says Daniele Malesani.

OR, :) it could be intelligent life probing the universe. James, turn off that HAM set, you will give us away.

EDIT: I had another thought. The burst could be a homing signal and if it is coming to us, we are on the path to home.:eek:

Yes, but this is surely natural radio noise, of course they did not mention what frequency's, but I got the impression this was at least microwave radiation or even x ray emissions.. Jupiter emits a lot of 21 to 22 MHz radio signals at times, and other space bodies have been found to emit natural radio signals.. Now if someone found a signal with some type of modulation on it, NOW that would be of critical interest. 21Mhz is in the 15 meter amateur radio band, and is covered by simple receivers. No big dishes or microwave gear needed. They say "no one can hear you scream in space".. But that is not entirely true.. You CAN scream over a radio, and be heard.

I dunno. It could be an alien COMSEC technique. How better to disguise your radio presence than to blend in? It could be light spectrum or light amplitude modulated and we don't have the right receiver hardware to know that.

Since you so blithely offer plausible explanations, and you yourself admittedly operate a radio; hmmm I'm calling NASA and the Feebs.
