Extension receiver hitch. Before I get flamed too bad, it's only intended to tow another light-weight trailer (like a small utility trailer with say a Rhino or Rzr)

Is that legal where you live?

More pics of the set-up. It's still in the fab. stage, speak now if you see anything I've missed or need to do different. (That's just an old ball in the hitch to see what it looks like). It seems really strong, i'm thinking it will work fine for what it's intended for. Its legal in ky to tow tandem trailers. Again, if anyone see's any improvements or changes I need to make, let me know.

Yes, every state has it's own law about tandem towing, I think it's legal in your state.

I've never checked to be honest because I never had the desire, I just heard it was illegal, of course that was probably 20 years ago our so. I see tandem semis a lot though, I guess I assumed it was some sort of exception or you had to have a special endorsement. I can't say I've ever seen a pickup doing it here.

The extension receiver stores in its own place inside the frame rails when it's not in use.

Yep, you're legal as long as you don't go over 60', i'm sure there's a weight limit too and more rules (as there should be) but it can be done.

I have seen trailers that mount a swivel implement jack on each back corner. Swivels horizontal when not in use.

That photo shows a crank jack, but they make "drop leg" jacks that are even better to keep the back of the trailer from dipping -- you remove a pin, let it drop to the level desired, and then put the pin back in. Fast with no cranking. They come with a swivel mount too. Actually, there are weld-on swivel mounts that can be fit to any jack.

I used to use wood 6x6 blocks myself -- got in the habit of having blocks around for general rigging work, and they were convenient to stack under the tail of my trailer when loading/unloading. Threw them in the tractor bucket while transporting.

When I ordered my Delta trailer back in 2006, I requested a receiver hitch and trailer lights plug.

I have pulled the 12' tilt behind it a lot.

The main use was pulling a 16' deckover with 6, 5x6 round bales behind it and 8 bales on the Delta.

With a Farm Tag on the truck it is legal to pull over width without a permit.

How about a drop leg that inserts into the rear receiver hitch?

Might want to double check on the towing double trailers, a lot of states require the first trailer to be a fifth wheel style hitch not two tag style. As for a pin style drop leg, they can be a lot of trouble sometimes, if you lower it to far its impossible to remove the pin to raise it back up with out using a jack under the trailer. I have two , one on each side of the trailer at the rear corners at the point where the dove tail starts, like in the pic above but sidewind style instead of top wind. Fully adjustable and if they have pressure on them after loading trailer just crank them up and then swivel them out of the way.

This reminds me of a idea I had awhile back but have never done it yet.

I have one of those type jacks for the front of my trailer. I have the mount on the driver's side front on the A frame. I really like this setup, you just have to crank the jack up just enough that it's free from the ground, pull the pin and turn it 90 degrees and put the pin back in. No more of that endless cranking so you have plenty of ground clearance.

Back to my idea; I was thinking about taking some short pieces of pipe, and making a couple more "receivers" for the jack at the rear of the trailer. If I had a flat tire, I could pull the pin and take the jack off the A frame and move it to the rear and use it to jack the back corner of the trailer up to change the tire(it would still have to be hitched to the truck of course). It might come in handy one day.

I ordered some open wheel caps a few weeks ago because the caps that came with my wheels were too shallow. I never received them so I cut these out with my lathe. Worked out pretty good.

I also made these to keep the chains off the ground when unhooked.

I made a wrench (modified one) that fits the nuts that holds on the tandem receiver bracket when not in use.
