So Billie do you have your laptop in your lap while you are typing away, half stretched out?

a "chilly" (yeah, compared to what...) 33 degrees this morning going up to 48. At least full sun, so this afternoon, right after lunch when the sun is beating down on the back deck, and it gets nice and toasty back there, I have about ten pieces of floor molding to apply a poly top coat to, so the carpenters can get it installed. It would be days before the painter comes back so I said I'd do it, not like that's real strenuous...

I have two sets of carpenters working on the house; one doing the outside work and one doing the inside work. The inside guys are building the shelves in my walk in closet. The lumber delivered was Chinese birch plywood. The outer layer was skinny paper thin. Where's the US plywood?
Next time I put that in the spec. I'm learning... All this shelving wood is going to get painted so it's not overly relevant how thick the wear surface is but the "nice" side of this plywood was laughably thin. The edge was literally fluttering in the breeze. These carpenters, all of them now actually, are real fanatics. They say right up front they work for me, not the GC even though they get paid by him, and they want lots of time talking over my expectations, they have 100% tarped my lawn so not one flake of construction debris gets on it, and frankly I think I finally got the right guys working here. So I am cautiously optimistic. Yeah RS, let's bold cautiously...

to balance out things, which is always good, because even though I have a real sense of humor, it sure has been worn thin lately..., at least my new bathroom is really looking cool. I think I got the colors right too, which I didn't do in the kitchen and had to send the backsplash tile back and get a different color. After that debacle, I was really nervous about the tile color in the bathroom but the marble and the tile went down, I think it works. Feels like I'm going into a fancy hotel bathroom. Bathrooms and kitchens are where the money needs to go for resale so I have that firmly in mind. Once I replace the windows, siding and roof of course. The latter too will happen in the next five years. And that should conclude fun and games in my own little moneypit. But then it will be done, and it will feel new, and this is what I've worked all my life for. No Porsches for me; I'll have a nice "throne"... The whole wall in front of the shower, and the shower door, will be glass, btw, so I'm hoping the "view" will not be blocked. Some of these design issues score me slightly above clueless.
I keep getting asked questions and typically I respond, "I have no idea, let me think about it." and I do...

Just keeping my eye on the prize when all these people finally get out of my home, I can clean it up finally and just sit in my recliner like Wingspread and snooze by the fire.

You are gonna get fat. :D Those chairs can suck you in and hold you down.

Our snow never got deeper than 3", it turned to rain at that point, it's drizzling again now, 34F and fog. It's been 34F since mid-day yesterday. We have snow-rain in the forecast here too for today and Friday, less than one 1" both days. Thomas when I cleaned off the slush yesterday big chunks of snow cones were getting dumped from the bucket. It was so wet the chunks had a blue tint to them on the bottom.

The storm rolling in on the West Coast sounds exciting. Sure hope it helps with the drought.

Be safe.

Coffee has been poured. 42° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 72° with clear skies all day. Today is wife's birthday. Need to fix breakfast, take her out to lunch and dinner. Oh and not traveling to our final destination today. Should be a good day for both of us.
Those in the bad weather area's be careful.
Drew, windows can be a pain. Hope they get them properly installed this time. Shower looks good.
Good Morning All.

Good morning, 22F heading to 34F. Woo Hoo, wife and I finished up Christmas shopping yesterday, wife thinks it is the earliest we ever finished. Cannot wait till Christmas to see the grandkids open their presents. Love watching their excitement when they receive a gift.

34 this morning and headed to 41 today. No rain chances. Now let's see what I can get into today.

Drew. Nice tile job. Looks like you chose a good tile guy. Sounds like you have the right window crew in now if they are tarping your lawn. Are they saying the windows are reusable or was the install that bad?
On the plywood. Plywood quality has been poor here in the good ol USA for a while. If shelving use a 3/4 MDF product. Just don't let it get wet. Its strong enough for shelving as long as its supported. Just don't try to span 6 or 8 feet with it. Use supports every couple of feet and you would be fine. It also finishes better than plywood IMHO.

Good morning! Happy Birthday Betty!

Temp range today 58-68 cloudy with a few sprinkles this morning.

Ron, I turned my weed eater into a whipwiz with a Stihl adapter kit and a metal blade, just $50 for both. It works good on the Youpon and woody plants up to thumb size. I finished the front fence line in only two days. Thanks for the suggestion it was quicker than the loppers and the weed eater.

I took the 1947 Farmall A out for a spin after replacing the battery and the oil. With it's bright red color it felt kind of seasonal.

I'm disappointed with Whipper. There was hog damage inside the yard! She must have really been sleeping tight last night. I did hear her when she finally realized there was an intruder, it was a surprised barking.

Drew, I hope you got that house at a good price with everything needing replacement. Was it advertised as a handyman's special?

Sure cannot beat them metal blades.

I have a Stihl FS-90 straight shaft with the triangle shaped metal "Brush Blade" on it and I never take it off. It is AMAZING on saplings etc. and shockingly good even on small trees & shrubs...

A wonderful tool indeed.

Be well,
David

Good Afternoon. 1340, sunny, 58F with 47% humidity. Forecast high of 57F with 0% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 34F tonight. There isn't much wind, so it isn't too bad out. I'm going to be walking over to Mamma's in a few minutes. She tripped the breaker for the bathroom receptacle. Thinking about going in my workout attire. If I walk fast enough I shouldn't be cold, right?

Margie took today off to recuperate from her trip. She is cooking gumbo and baking a tomato pie. I could get spoiled.

Happy birthday to Ron's wife.

Drew, love your shower bench. I just have the little triangle seat in the corner.

Have any of you guys sent Mostly Gas a PM? There was one on the 7th, but you can't tell if it was incoming or outgoing. All that bike riding of his scares me.

Hope everyone is having a good day,

Larro
