I was looking at the Cammond website tonight (researching a Cammond Grading Scraper) and noticed they have a BB with hydraulic scarifier assembly. Looks like it would be simpler to replicate than the Gannon system. Here's a link to the page.

The OEM cylinders are 3" bore with a 1 1/8" dia rod. I have one here with a bent rod. Since you are building the ends for the cylinder to go to, just get a clevis end unit and go from there. I can send you a 2" unit for cheap.

Murph, your Gannon is-was the hand actuated ripper bar correct? I have the same unit and need to convert to hydraulic. It actually looks to be quite easy. The cylinder will mount on the outside of the tower. Need to change out the existing 1" upper pin to a longer pin and mount one at the bottom of the tower. Looks to be pretty easy to do actually and the ram can be installed up high instead of low were it is always in the dirt. I've been putting this off, but now looking at it, looks like a couple of hours work at the most. :cool2:

14 1/8"- 18 1/8" But since you have to make the mounts, that working length is not really important, just need the 4" of travel to get everything using as much of the OEM linkage that you can.

No springs required, I have the same exact problem and as you probably know, those springs are not available. I was going to make some, but have since decided to keep the BB and as we all know, hydraulics are the way to go.

Here is what I have to deal with. My thinking is to use a 4" stroke cylinder with the tube type ends, not the clevis ends that I used as a mockup unit. Use the OEM pin location, need to install a much longer pin and a mount with pin to be welded on the tower down low. All pretty simple. I was thinking about installing on the inside of the tower, but not sure if it's worth the trouble?

Double check you manual unit and see how far the pin moves when rotated from the up-down position.

In the center picture, the 1" pin the points out from the center to the side that the hand lever is connected to. How far does that pin move from all the way up to locked in the Down position. You will either have to hook up to the BB and raise it up or remove the rippers to check it while on the floor. you need to remove the rippers for painting anyway, so might as well take them out now. With less weight, the bar will move easier anyway, since there are no helper springs.

Murph, I just saw your recent posts on this. When I've over at my property this weekend where my tractor and box blade are, I can take some pics and/or a video of the hydraulic cylinder linkage raising and lowering the scarifier assembly, if that would be helpful. I can also take some measurements of mine if that would help.
