Ford 1710 with 465 Hours

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum here and have just purchased a 1986 Ford 1710 4wd that had 464 hours on it. It had the FEL, a 60" Brush Hog mower, 60" landscape rake and a monstrosity of a leaf collector with it. I paid the guy $8400. It did have new rear rims and three new tires on it. Everything works fine but the paint is a bit tired. I hope to do some paint work this winter. I just bought property in SE Montana and needed a tractor to do a driveway and keep the grass down. I plan to add a box blade and a post hole digger to the setup.

That is a good price, but you mention both a 1710 and a 1720. 2 different animals.

Re: Ford 1710 with 465 Hours

That was a typo. It's a 1710.

Its a real good tractor. Id check the 12 bolts that hold the front end on. They like to loosen.

I had its little brother, a 1310 , it was a little beast and never had any problem with it. Every bit as good and reliable as a Kubota of the same vintage IMO

Wolfy,

Thanks for the tip, re: the front end bolts.

BTW, I found a .pdf file online of the 1710 Service Manual for 10 bux. Printed out a couple of copies on the laser printer.
