I'm working on adding some rear remotes to my Kubota L45. I'm seeking some opinions on where to mount the valves and the quick disconnects. I got a chance to explore a few spots this afternoon. Here are what I have come up with on my own:

Any advice/opinions?

ergonomics and hose routing should be the deciding criteria IMO...

Good luck and have fun...!

Some rear remotes yeah I see 4. does this model come with remotes as an option? If so could swing by dealer if possible and see where factory mounts these good luck I like your wiliness to do this.

Remotes are an option, but good luck finding a dealer with a construction tlb on stock let alone one with remotes by me. The 3 point hitch is an option most guys don't order. It's rare to find a tlb owner who even knows how to take the hoe off.

With hoses and QD's added it may be crowded. Maybe a joystick would be better with the valve(s) under the platform like in your other thread.

Looks great, but I'd double check it with seat facing forward and hand on the FEL joystick - how close is your elbow to hitting the first valve block?

Miles of room in either position facing forward.

Once the hoses and QD's are added it could be a little crowded. How about a joystick control with the valves mounted under the platform? What kind of implement will this be for?

The QDs will be remotely located. I'm still working through that too.

How easy is it to rig up a joy stick? Never seen that before.

Implements tbd. Right now i have a TNT ready to go.

I went to Kubota Tractor Corporation - Parts List put in the L45 and found the 3 function remotes (listed under options as T15000 AUXILIARY CONTROL VALVE LEVER (3RD) (W/G No.L9553)).
It looks like the stock ones sit under the side panel and are controlled through the 3 slots in the back of the RH plastic panel.

I'll have to look at that. Think i could jam 4 in there if i cut the plastic?

You might be able to, I cant really get a sense of scale from the pictures. I think that the trick would be getting it close enough to the top that you don't have to lengthen the slots to get full moment out of the levers. It looks like you almost might be able to mount the quick connects directly to the valvebody (at least for 3 of the 4, the ROPS might get in the way of the 4th).

Aaron,

I looked at the Kubota diagram. I don't think they go into the slots in the plastic. From what I can see, they bolt directly to the ROPS similar to how I have mine in idea 1. They just also add a pretty panel. It looks like they use QD's right on the valves facing back. I was thinking about that, but Brian from Fit Rite said the only ones that fit well are 1/4" and those are generally too small for any real flow. He's suggesting I do 3/8" QD's located remotely.

I hope that you are joking since you already have 1/2" units which are industry std. You plan on running a hydraulic motor, you need 1/2" QDs. ;)

Brian,

Sorry, off by an 1/8 with both of my statements. I was forgetting that you had said 3/8 HOSE.

So yes, remote mount QDs are the plan. I'm going to investigate which way kubota does it. I'm confused because i see the ROP mount on the parts fiche, but i know i saw someone who posted pics of the lower mounting using the slots for the levers.

Ah, I saw that panel, but thought it was the one that is already on the tractor. Might try removing your handles and see if the slots line up with the existing ones.

Start measuring, I like the idea of cramming everything down under so that the levers come up through the OEM area. You will have to cut out the entire area, but if they were to fit up through one big oval hole, that would be cool. Built a mount off of the ROPS, depending on room if the work ports point forward or to the rear.

Definitely worth looking at IMO.

most of those locations, just from pictures, just seems down right painful reaching for the levers.

get in the seat, yank your head left looking back down at 3pt attachment. and then yank your head right looking back down at a 3pt attachment.

repeat, but try and hold your hand in a given area and still operate the levers...
---more so if levers are on right, turn your head/body left, can ya still operate levers? or vice vs.

picture is from...Kubota | Tractor | TLB Series | L45 | Golden Eagle Equipment
Kubota-L45-dirt.jpg

with your seat doing a 180 to operate backhoe... left side may be rather ugly, and trying to turn around when backhoe is on.

i would say create a mounting bracket, and place the 4 levers above the side console (were the key to turn on/off tractor goes), (turn it so the 8 hoses coming from each valve either point up or down, it would require some 90 degree fittings, and a few extra pieces of hoses possibly being made up.

possibly making another bracket, that mounts to ROPS. to hold the 8 hose ends coming from the levers, to make it easier to setup quick disconnects into.

========
seating them into the 3 slots on rear for the factory setup, looks promising, just seems like they are way far behind the seat when facing forward. granted awesome place to have quick disconnects coming right off the valves... but the accessing levers is the issue.

boggen,

Thank you so much for taking the time for such a comprehensive response. This advice is EXACTLY what I was hoping for when I posted.

I'm so glad you found the Kubota factory pics. That shows me I can't be THAT far off with what I came up with. I like your ideas and will explore them more.

I am a bit concerned about vulnerability while brush hogging. I do a lot of hogging through trees and in aggressive areas.

The left side is definitely out. The L45 is almost large enough to spin around on the chair like a real backhoe. These valves have to wind up on the right side.

I'll investigate the right side in the factory area, as well as trying to mount them where you suggested over the gauges.

I looked at mounting where the factory valves come up through those slots. That's just never going to work with 4 valves. The quick disconnects for the hoe are right there and without some fancy linkages there is just no way the handles will wind up anywhere near useful.

I did play around with the quick disconnect bank. Trying to find a home for 8 1/2" QDs is no easy task! I'm still not sure how I will ever be able to run 8 3/8" lines around to all of this stuff.

move the bank up higher on the ROPS. once ya get 3pt attachment on (backhoe off), you may run out of room as far as simply lower/raising the 3pt hitch with all the hoses. or move the bank onto a fender

the hoses and how much they can "bend" is going to be problem trying to mount them so close to the 3pt hitch. ya going to most likely want some wiggle room, just to let the hoses have room to bend. possibly putting a 90, 45, 22.5 like fitting on some quick disconnects to make it easier to say hook up to a TNT, or possibly route a couple of the QD's a little further apart, so you can physically get a hand on them to either connect/disconnect them.
