I just got an 18 x 21 carolina carport installed. Three Mexicans put it up in 2 hours. They were climbing all over the roof, I know this will take a snowload. Very well built. Totally satisfied. Glad I got the carport over the shelter tent.View attachment 393812View attachment 393813

Chuck, did you get an optional brace kit or something with your Carolina Carport?
Reason I ask is that yours has 6 legs instead of the 5 legs like Harry's pic shows. And also, yours has a brace at the top of each leg. Harry's carport has only a brace at each corner leg.

Harry's carport is like the ones I've seen here in Texas. So if you didn't get some optional kit with yours, then maybe these carports fall under some kind of state building code spec for wind or snow loads, and perhaps wouldn't necessarily be built the same from state to state.

My carport is "engineered". That gives me the extra bracing, RV anchors. It is designed to withstand high winds. This is a $100.00 option.

I guess what you're talking about as "Engineered" is listed as the "Certified" option in the sales brochures. They're listed differently according the state you live in. Thanks for the info.

I bought the carport from a very nice Polish women (legal) a few towns away. I had no idea who would install it.

Being from Fla don't no much about snow but doesn't it weigh more than 3 Mexicans.

You would be surprised how much 2-3 ft of snow can weigh, especially if you get rain within a day or two after a big snow.

I got the TNT carport w/ enclosed sides & ends. I have had it about 7 years w/ no issues. I have seen a lot of the fabric type shelters collapse from heavy snow loads around here.

I should be getting mine in a couple weeks, I hope. I also purchased from Carolina Carports, so I'm glad you like yours. Mines 18x26 with 8' legs. I went with certified also.
