I just got an 18 x 21 carolina carport installed. Three Mexicans put it up in 2 hours. They were climbing all over the roof, I know this will take a snowload. Very well built. Totally satisfied. Glad I got the carport over the shelter tent. 2014-10-07 15.53.25.jpg2014-10-07 15.53.43.jpg

Do you plan on enclosing it with something to keep the snow out?

And no offense, but if not, what's the point?

I can see it in, say, Florida to keep the sun off, but in snow country?

Nice... have thought about getting one for the wife to park in... but on out tip-top-of-the-hill location where it's always windy, and gusts to 60+ mph are common, I dont know if it would stay where it was put. Other locals have had issues with getting blown away/damaged. Which leads to the question... how is it anchored to the ground?

Even it you dont have sides, keeping the majority of the snow/rain that comes straight down off your equipment will be nice.

Carolina Carports and T-N-T Carports look like the same thing, although I guess they are two separate companies, both in North Carolina and both send those crews all over the country. I had the T-N-T carport installed when we had a mobile home in 2003 and had another one installed for our daughter in 2004. Ours were installed on existing concrete parking slabs so they drilled holes, inserted steel anchors to hold them down. Of course in this area, snow load was no consideration. But the vehicles sure stayed cooler with the sun shaded, no ice or frost to scrape from windshields when we did have that kind of weather, no dew on the vehicles in the mornings, and it sure was nicer getting in and out of vehicles on rainy days, especially if you had to get out with groceries and such.

I was also surprised that the crews were all over the top of the things, working from above instead of just on ladders.

As with most people, we've lived where our vehicles stayed out in the weather, but can't say we liked it. In our current home, both vehicles are parked inside the garage, but it's amazing to me that so many people have garages that are used for other storage and the vehicles sit out in the driveway.

Being from Fla don't no much about snow but doesn't it weigh more than 3 Mexicans just asking it looks very nice and hope you get much use from it. the awnings as we refer to that style in Fla have to be rated for 120 mph winds.

They used four 36" mobil home screw in eye anchors for the corners, and four 36" rebar stakes. I really don't think it's going anywhere. It's also shielded by the woods and a woodshed. I don't know how well it will keep things dry with wind driven rain or snow, we'll see. I can always add sides. It sure beats what I had before, nothing but a tarp.
I did get an optional 8' high roof. Like it. I can hang deer in it.

I bought 2 from the same company. Put end to end for 40 feet.
Did a great job and were very courteous as a 3 man crew.

Harry,
Looks good. I don't see a seam between the two sheds. Did the run the metal the whole 40 feet? Also, I am in the Covington area too. There are about 4 or 5 dealers in the area that look like they sell the same shed. Where did you buy yours?

Norm,
Bought from Steel Carports & Metal Carports Louisiana with Free Delivery & Setup ( I don't work for them - I just bought mine from them!!)
Technically it's called Alans Factory Outlet, otherwise called Carolina Carports. Same guy, but called Louisiana Carports when you buy one from here.
No one in Covington came close to the price. And I checked and visited them all. I tried hard to buy "local". Even showed them the price. All they said
was if you can buy it at that price, go get it from them.... so I did. You are probably right, pretty much the same sheds. So, price is what I was after.
There are two 18x21 that were just put together length wise. I had the installers make the front 6 inches
taller than the back. Just to at least have the rain water drain off that end. And, of course, what comes off the sides. (I got 8 foot legs too)
Doing this way was cheaper than buying the 18x41 (by 200 dollars - go figure). The way I did it was the best bang for the buck for me.
It took 6 weeks for the delivery because they wait for a number of local installs before they make the trip. I was in no rush, so that was fine.
I paid 10% down. After the install I paid the rest. Even with giving the crew drinks and a nice tip for the job well done, it cost less than the local companies quotes.
