Bought the everything attachment subsoiler Tuesday evening got it Friday evening super fast shipping . Great beefy unit . Super great salesman for double check'n they had one and get'n it out to me .
Put it behind the mf135 but its I guess a little to wet or not enought tractor it will spin out on me .. Going to hook it behind the m7040 and see what happens .
I guess I need the the blade adjusted straight up and down right ?? In the pics it was at just a angle I adjusted it straight up and down after this pic ...
Or how does it need to be angled ???

That is super fast shipping!

You might bend it with the m7040 if used in 4x4, depending on what it's rated for.

I've not used a subsoiler in years and forget the details. Seems like it would be easier to get it to dig in initially with it tilted the way you had it set up. Not sure if there would be any down side to that.

If it were mine, I'd have it straight up and down. You're using the draft control right? and fluid in the tires makes a huge difference in the way a 135 plows.

Ya no fluid in the tires never needed it plowing with double mold board plow or any other plow . That's why I was Surprised with this subsoiler .

But I guess I will play with the angle .

And yes I did watch the video before buying . Watched Several others of there's also found a few other things I want . Lol

And m7040 shouldn't bend it it should shear the bolt I hope and not damage anything .
And ya I got to pick up some spares .

Will post up what happens ..

And on the shipping ya smoking fast guess the salesman since'd I wanted fast . Which I did .

I set my top link so it is directly above the 3pt pins. The angle of the blade will make it dive. That being said have you tried to let it dig a little at a time to see where you start to loose traction then raise it a little. Even with poor traction you can make multiple passes to get it to the depth you want.

Just to be clear, liquid filled tires can still spin in mud or matted wet grass/brush so that isn't always the solution.

Ask me how I know.

Just wondering, what was the original purpose of the subsoiler? In my area, it is mainly used for breaking up a plow hardpan, which increases vertical drainage and root growth. I'm aware that in other soils, they are used for horizontal drainage to move water down a slope with less erosion. The "soiled" photos to me look as if the ground is a little too wet, but maybe your intent was to move that water. Let us know. They are also great for finding large rocks and buried treasures/headaches.

To plant trees ..

And ya to move water ..

And add a few water and power lines later down the road .

But right now to help plant 500 trees .

Shorter the top link the keener it will dig in. It will also tend to "lift" the soil more on each side of the trench. The trench will also be wider.

I would like to know more about how you use it to plant trees?

Where did you get so many?

Using to break ground for root growth and for water to get in to the ground . I'm planting peach trees ..

Here's some pics of someone else's orchard doing the same thing they ripped 3 rows .

When you plant the trees, are you actually putting then in where the subsoiler has opened up the ground? OR are you just subsoiling beside where you dig traditional holes to plant the trees?

<img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=355882"/>

In them 3 pic which are not mine there in subsoil rip .

I plan to follow them since they have been in business for 100 years I figure they know what there doing .

Buy I may still run my tiller down the rows over the rip . Not sure was going to disk it but didn't like that .

Wow I'm glad I ran into this thread. im getting ready to purchase the EA Subsoiler and I was planning on running on my MF135. Do you think I would have any luck with it if my soil were dryer than yours? Also its only 4 acres ill be doing will I be able to struggle thru it if need be?

My L3200 (32hp, 3,500lbs R4s) will pull a subsoiler through Colorado clay. A decent bit of grunt but no issues. Well none until I ran into the iceberg on the north side of my barn where snow/rain ran off & froze. Popped a handful of sheer bolts on that, a few rocks & some stuff I never figured out why.

I think I got mine from Northern Tool. Definitely need to keep spare sheer bolts around. You can see the bolt get beatup & start to bend over a few hours. A better subsoiler probably has better clearances & won't wear out the sheer bolts over time, only on bad stuff.

@7879fordman-

Have you ever sheered a pin on this? I've got the same unit and have broken two top links but never sheered a pin. I'm wondering if it's me/my setup or if there's a flaw in the design.

Thanks

I popped a few. The sheer pin setup was a bit sloppy & it would chew up pins a bit then sheer them. Hitting chunks of truly frozen ground or concrete would stop my L3200 dead in it's tracks, but not sheer the pin. I haven't used the subsoiler in a while, or since I upgraded to my L4060 a year or so ago. At double the weight im betting it will pop sheer pins way easier.

Even though I don't use it much these days & it might be a bit light for my new machine, I see no reason to sell it off unless I happen to find a great deal on a beefier used one on Craigslist or at an auction or something.

Looks like it would be great for planting hedges - yew, box, beech, etc. Nice straight rows for putting in 1-2 year seedlings, real close together.
