Good deal on some 6010

Have you checked what a 5 lb box goes for? You got a great deal.
I like the 3/32" size for 1/4" materiel & under, which is most of my welding, so I frequently run out.
Sounds like you won't be having that problem for a good long time!

And the nice thing about 6010 is you don't have to worry about it going bad for a long time, if ever.

That is a good deal. I have 100# of 1/8" so I will probably pass. I also prefer 5p+ but at that price I would burn it and not care.

Yes I would say that's some old red rod nobody wants.

Thanks for the tip. According to eBay I got the last box.

I would have bought some if 1/8". I doubt that I have burned 50 pounds of 3/32" 6010 in my life and many years I was a welding professional. They just don't put down enough metal per pass to be effective. I do have some (5#) 6013 that I bought a while back to use on super thin stuff and I doubt I will use that up in my lifetime, what is left of it.

I doubt I can burn trough it all, either. But it was less than the price of two 10# boxes so why not. Also, I teach folks the basics using 1/8" mild. This makes it cheaper to teach.

But I agree, my 'go to' stick is 1/8".

I ordered one of those 50 pound boxes and was notified today that the shipment was refused at my post office. I called up my post office and found out that the eBay seller tried to ship the rods using a flat rate United States Postal Service box. The problem is he used two boxes to make one because the rod box would not fit in a standard box. According to the post office they can either refuse the shipment or deliver it and let the end-user pay for the extra shipping charges. I contacted the eBay seller and he basically says that I'm out of luck and he will not be shipping it back but will refund my original purchase. Just pisses me off that he makes a mistake and I get the short end of the stick....or rod!

Just checked my tracking # and it show that it is on the truck to be delivered today. I'll let you know what I end up receiving.

Would really like to know the story on this rod. Leftover from a big job, stolen, damaged, etc...

I got mine today... Looks like it's been sitting on a warehouse shelf for a while. Can was dented and had a little rust but sealed tight. Rods are dry and solid.

Good deal. Hopefully I have similar setting on my porch when I get home.

I would pay it and file a complaint with Ebay/Paypal... They will make the seller cover it (I have had the same thing happen to me before).

I think this guy is shrewd. He already refunded my money so I don't think I can refuse that and I think that eliminates my ability to file a complaint.

Got mine in today. Yes the idiot tried to use multiple flat rate boxes to ship it which is pretty funny. Looks like the post office ended up wrapping a bunch of plastic on it. Anyhow it's here and it seems to weld just fine.

I learned to weld with 6010;as a pipefitter on construction.Great all around rod;lots of sparks so you need protection if doing over-heads.Up-hill,down-hill doesn't matter ;works well either way.Later in my career we went to 6010 root pass and 7018 out.

$50 per 50# box is about what they were selling for 5 years ago. I bought 5 boxes of 1/8" 5P+, 300 # of 3/32 Atom Arc 7018 and 200# of 1/8" 7018 @ $50 per box. I still have some of them left. The only rod I have had to buy since is the 3/32 6013 I bought recently just to try them on thin material.

I got mine in 9-10-2014. He used multiple flat rate boxes to ship it. Two on the outside to make one box LOL...One on the inside and one on each end rolled up for packing... LOL 5 flat rate boxes total... No rust on my can and the rods worked great... I thought the big FAT 400 LB postman was going to have a stroke carrying that 50 LB box up to the door... I opened the door just as he stepped on the side walk, that way he would not slam it down on the porch...It was wrapped and taped well... No extra postage charge for me...I'm happy...
