Good morning!!!!

Weekdays I'm up about 0330, so I reckon that's my rhythm...not my preference.

The early bird gets the worm.

Good morning all! Temp here is a balmy 57F going for a high of 79. Winds out of the South @6 this afternoon.
I'm going to the lake later.
I'm all hooked up to my new train and should have a pic or two by Monday.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 48° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 82° with mostly sunny skies. Off to my mother house to pull weeds and check things out.
Good Morning All.

55. Going to be a gorgeous day again today, a bit warmer at 84.

Ended up going flyfishing yesterday in the mountains. Decided I'd have less competition on the river on a weekday, and the tractor and painting work could wait for the weekend. Well, I kinda wish a few people had hiked the trail to the river before me. I picked up scores of ticks on this trail, and spent the better part of the first hour searching and picking them off of my legs, puppy and gear. Still found a couple more on the pup today. Never seen so many ticks on one half mile trail, big and small ones. At least no skeeters - JD has all of them.

I have a few chores this morning (home tax assessment appeal, get new blades for my RFM and an oil filter for the Gator) then a few hours at work.
I need to stack that cord of firewood that was delivered last Sunday...I guess that will have to be a Sunday job.

Well, I guess I should ask my wife IF I can go to work (on a weekend)! She's already got our day planned, so I'll have to get in early Monday instead....which does save me miles on my truck and fuel costs.
No blades at the dealer...pick 'em up next week.
Still going to the assessment appeal in about an hour.

Assessment appeal, abatement -- Ha Ha Ha.... Wish you luck Roy. I did successfully appeal my assessment once, the actual square footage was less than what they based the assessment on. They called it an 'abatement' which I never understood. I guess that sounds better than 'error.'

Fine weather today. Should see low 80's and mostly sunny. Have to get the mower out this afternoon.

The minisplit install is almost done. The company keeps pulling my installer off the job for repairs like water leaks. The refrigerant lines are purged and charged, last step is connecting the electric to the indoor units. The wiring is there and ready to go. I don't want to call the company and complain being he is a friend, plus he is getting married today. I see no point in adding stress to his life. He told me it should/would have easily been done this week if he was able to spend the time on it. He isn't happy about the way the local office branch manages things.

Keep us posted on the mini-split. Our HVAC system is starting to go, and we have been looking at those as an alternative to replacing our existing set-up. Last guy who was out (last June) recharged the system, but identified a leak and some other issues. If we have to replace the compressor, we will have to replace the coils(?)-may be smarter at that point to change over. Based on their lower power draw, and our plan to go solar at some point in the future, it seems to make sense.

Will do. I am very ignorant about AC, it's not a big thing up here. This will be the first time in my life having AC in a house. I've never had a window AC unit even. That's how little I know about it. :)

I do know the minisplits are much easier to install on an exterior wall, we just don't have good location for that in our house. All they need is a roughly 3" hole through the wall, a 220v 20A power feed to the outdoor unit, and somewhere for the condensate water to drain. I think they usually just let it drip on the ground. They have half-round vinyl covers and weather heads to sort of dress-up the lines exposed on the outside. Realistically, those are never going to be a beauty mark.

There are ceiling flush-mounted "cassette" units that have small pumps to lift the condensate to a drain line. That didn't sound very good for us, I don't really want a drain line in the attic that can freeze, leak, etc., or rely on a pump. You just know that eventually, there will be an issue. There are also multiple head units where something like four indoor units are sharing one outdoor unit.

People here say they are great and very efficient, and they like the dual AC-heat capability. My installer friend says he rarely has to go on a repair call for the Mitsubishi units they sell and install. He also says the refrigerant lines air purge and charging is very critical on these units. He does a double nitrogen purge and pulls the lines down to under 500 microns before charging the refrigerant which should be accurate to the ounce calculated by actual copper line length? He used a portable digital scale for the pink tank. That is all Greek to me. He attended a Mitsubishi training session.

............
getting a new truck today, a Ram 3500 diesel dually, and that should suck up most of the day. .............

New truck day! Can't be bad. Speaking of sucking up, what size fuel tank does your new truck have? My cab-chassis version came with a 52 gallon tank. At $4.10/gal that's an impressive Ka-ching, Ka-ching. Fortunately, I don't drive it enough to make that excessively painful.

68F and .69 inches rain last 24 hours. Slightly overcast but promising.

Freecycle oil drum turned out to be a winner, have 2 drums (104 gallons) of diesel at rear of tractorshed. This week I need to hook in the 12vdc pumping systems. After all these years am I gonna miss wrestling those 5 gallon cans? Doubt it. :)

BIL coming over for a work day. Major hopes of getting a major eyesore cleaned up. Will load trailer for disposal tomorrow and sort thru what may be salvageable for new home in tractorshed. Unfortunately, this is a task I have avoided way too long.

Be safe
Have a great day
