This is sooooooo dependant on tractor use. I carry clampon cylinder stops, 3pt arm bushings, several hitch pins, extra set of 3pt clips, PTO shaft converter, 2 chainsaw chains, 1 chainsaw, 2 adjustable wrenches, fencing pliers, hammer, clevis, 3 log chains, extra 3pt top link, extra 3pt side link, bug spray, toilet paper, can coolie, cooler, prybar, tordon. I'm positive I missed something.....

You will make up your own must haves pretty quick. Whatever you find yourself driving back to the barn/shop/house for is a good start!

I don't carry a lot of tools. Invariably when something breaks/loosens etc, it's a trip back for the big tools anyways. Good maintenance lessens your need for tools while tractoring! Something to tighten up loose hose clamps can be handy and wire cutters.

Sunglasses, gloves, a few shop towels, grease, duct tape, a few bandages and cell phone about does it for me.

Depends on the use as stated. Pins and clips for the 3ph, clevis for the draw bar, vise grips and a small hammer, screw drivers flat and Philips. If you have the chains on then repair links and spare clevises to fit and enough of the above tools to make a repair sub zero without walking back to the house. I leave oil, antifreeze and grease gun where I park the tractor and top off before start and grease while it warms up. After that it depends on what your doing and what your hitched to. Haying and cutting wood call for different things at hand as would plowing or brush hogging. The tool box that came with mine is too small and I'm going to replace it but I don't want to get too big as it will become a clutter collector.

Clutter is what I'm trying to avoid. For me spare top and side links are in that category, I don't carry spare tie rod ends or u joints in my truck either.

I understand wrenches and cheap bolts for shear pins.

I also understand more detail of my use will help. I'm taking care of my own property, 1500ft drive, and reclaiming a field that hasn't been touched in 20 years. I'll also be doing wildlife plots for a few local and a couple distant lease properties.

There is also the tools you acquire to deal with the trouble you've had lately. For example last winter I had trouble with gelled fuel and waxed up fuel filters. You end up with anything you need other then your basic kit to solve the problem. In this case the little wrench that fits the bleed screws on the injector pump. Might as well leave it in the tractor tool box as that is where you are most likely to need it next.

grease gun, 3/4" socket set, large wrenches (OVER 1"), large crowbar, and torque wrench.

Seriously, where do you put that stuff? Two essentials for me: Coffee (till about 8 or 9am) and then water.

Very, very true. I use the small factory box, plus an additional box of similar size, plus an open topped box next to the seat to throw hitch pins, fencing pliers, often used items, plus a chain box just large enough to store 3 chains with a clevis thrown on top, plus a small open box on the inside of the fender to stick my cell phone and glass case so I don't break em in my pocket, plus a chainsaw scabbard.

Nothing more aggravating than digging thru a large container for the item wanted. It's alway, always on the bottom.

Organization my friends, organization. None of my containers limit my ability to operate and/or mount/dismount the tractor. If all you need to carry on your tractor is coffee, then you must just be putting around sightseeing???Here's the best pics I can find. I actually forgot about the cooler holder. So I don't hafta go back to the house for that water.....

I thought this thread would be informative and useful for readers. Also was anxious to see new ideas. Seems like most of the responses are negative toward those that volunteered information.

Before you negatively attack an item that someone is carrying you should reflect a moment. Would an operator carry something just to create "clutter"?? Would same operator carry something heavy and bulky that was not needed?? Probably not.

So with that said, wouldn't your above response have served everyone better if you simply asked why someone would carry an extra top link and side link??
:confused3:
