Good idea... but with 5 kids under age 13 and one on the way, I have a lifetime supply of laundry deterg jugs... *grin*

I figured so.. and it takes about 2 minutes or less to carve one up with a pocket knife, and you have a new one. cool

However... I do need something better for on the tractor... been wraping one securely around the brush guard... but hate the scratches and nicks in the paint on a new-ish (75.8 hrs yesterday) tractor. Not sure if some 4" pvc pipe will be the choice or weld up a nice box like pictured a few post back... but something HAS to happen by spring time.

The handles make them easy to carry.

And on the Toolcat.

Xfaxman: thoes blue jugs are my favorite... unfortunately the brand we get changed their shape to a less ideal configuration. The old ones like you show are more squared off and easiest to get a good opening and still have the handle.

Last year a poster asked what a "HOMER BOX" was and received his answer, here is a picture of my "HOMER award for being nice to the customers when I worked at HD. Kind of like getting a GOLD star when you were in grade school back when! :DHD Homer award 001.jpg

Like many others, including Redbug, Kebo and hslogger I carry mine in a tube on the loader arms and I prefer steel to plastic. I use old fire extinguishers . Just cut the top off in the bandsaw or whatever and drill a drain hole in the bottom and weld on brackets as needed. Warning. Make sure they are not under pressure when you cut them . I put them in the saw and leave the room.

In order to not start a new "chain" thread, I will post this here. I was in Lowes the other day looking for a chain and wow they had the ONE for my tractor! My wife will be proud as she has taught me that when you accessorize, that you have to match. But anyway, for all you orange tractor operators (doesn't matter what brand, it's not an EXACT match for either) Lowes has your chain! 20140327_180613.jpg

Big plastic cat litter container. Dump the chain in, spray with WD40, and leave it until I need it again.

Howxmuch was that? It doesn't look like a vinyl coating, but more like a plating, am I right?

That sure is Purdy :) BUT - don't expect it to stay that way very long. I have the same thing that's about 3 years old now. If you look real close you can tell that it USED to be that Purdy orange. Not any more. But, if you have a nice new pretty tractor, there's no harm in starting out with a nice new matching chain.

Right around $35 with tax its only a 12 footer but 3400lb working load. And it's actually only painted.

Yeah I don't figure it will BUT .......
