I have been a long time reader of TBN, but I finally decided to make an account to report my today's findings.

:::::: ???????? - ??? ?? ??? ??? ? ?????. ::::::::::

According to the Daedong website (the company behind Kioti) they manufacture the John Deere 6R series for the European market.

Can anyone comment on this?
The internet is a wonderful tool.Nothing is sacred.

First of all, you are from Northern Europe? Where in Northern Europe as i did not recognize that country name so I am assuming it is not a country.

In your area there is a place called Mannheim Germany that you are more familiar with than I am. They build 6R tractors there and have built John Deere tractors for the European market since the 1950s so I understand when they purchased Herman Lanz out who also built the famous Lanz Bulldog tractor. If in your travels in Europe you could stop at a John Deere dealership to validate the Daedong claim (I have a hard time to read the website), and find it to be true, I truly would be shocked.

There is also a cab and operator station factory in Germany for John Deere. Perhaps you should see if you could have a tour there?

I think it is more than that - primer and steel deep. Just saying...:)

I really do have a fondness for Kioti....this makes it even better. Certain posters here are probably going to hate this. Of course they will try to spin it, and say that Mother Deere is actually teaching Daedong how to build tractors. :confused2:

soooooo, this smells fishy

here's a link from almost a decade ago: Daedong John Deere 5820 - 2004 - Page 1 [#239025 / 239025] saying that these JDs are made in Korea....but only FOR Korea. Why would JD bother and why would it be such a (relatively) big secret? Maybe Daedong really does make John Deer(e)s just for SK....but again...seems like a weird workaround.

It's hard to say. From looking at some of the history, it appears Kioti made some JDs under license. If that's the case, I can see why they wouldn't want them exported outside of Korea. Now, it appears things may have changed slightly.

In somewhat of a similar fashion, LS builds CUTs and SCUTs for CNH, but LS buys larger Utility machines from CNH for export outside of Korea, just not to the U.S.

It all starts to make my head hurt eventually!

I had a friend who knows Korean translate it and indeed, he told me that the tractors Daedong make are only for the Korean market and are derived from the European models, not the other way around.

Still, it nice to know that JD trusts a company like Daedong.

As for my exact location, I come from Estonia, where the nearest tractor dealer is almost never over 50 km away :D

Vedur, we didn't get a chance to welcome you as an active participant on TBN. Welcome!

Interesting first post and follow up too.

Wonder how many they made or are they still making them.

SK enforces protectionist policies for just about everything. If they can make it themselves, they just about keep out all foreign competition. There are very few foreign cars on their roads. Virtually nothing Japanese (probably for many reasons), and a rare American luxury car or SUV. Everything else is Korean. So, if Deere wants to sell to the Korean market, this is probably the only way in.

Does the Chinese make their own JD's too? Do you have any links to this?
