Need some advice. I have 74 Ford 2000 3-cylinder diesel that has no hydraulics. Since it was old, I decided to rebuild the pump and replace all orings and seals on the lift piston (under the lift cover). I primed the system and still have no hydraulics. I hooked a pressure gauge to the plug on the accessory cover (under the seat); zero pressure. Hooked the gauge to the hex plug on the pump itself; it has some pressure, but not enough to register 500 psi. The manual says it should have 1500 psi.
The only time I could get the lift arms to raise was to pull the plug that holds in the check valve (under the seat) and allow the check valve to bleed by. It makes me think the pump is not putting out enough pressure counteract the spring tension on the check valve. I could cut down the spring, but really don't want to do that.
Any advice is helpful. Thanks
