Sounds like the ammo hoarders need expert advise from Squirrel Girl.

I forgot to mention, it's nice to see how this thread is spreading out like a virus and infecting other threads.

Hmmm. So there are secret/covert/hidden underground caches of .22 lr cartridges which are, so far as we can ascertain, only located in New Jersey.

On the one hand, that would account for the 500' distance between the pallet indicated bunkers = a blast zone buffer to prevent a cascading explosion should something go awry in one of the stashes.

On the other hand, leaving the pallets as a Bunker Access Portal Cover, indicating exactly where the hoard of ammunition is, defeats the purpose of "squirreling" the munitions in the first place.

I agree with your assessment. This ammo bunker idea is full of shortcomings.

1) No women are involved.
2) No Ley Lines.
3) New Jersey is an unlikely place to stash ammo.
4) The requisite environmental conditioning to ensure long-term viability of the ammo is unaccounted for.
5) The eventual user of the ammo is left to our imagination.
6) No self-respecting alien fighter/anarchist/big foot hunter/etc. would rely on rimfire ammo.

Ah! But who would think of looking in New Joysey for .22 Ammo? No One!

Good one!... we should always wash our hands when using this thread.

Ah c'mon Mate! That's just an 'old wives tale' perpetuated by our Mum when we were wee tackers. Next you'll be saying we need to wear clean underwear in case we get into a Science Related pallet research accident.

Just checking in to see how you are progressing with the X-ray vision glasses. Anything to report?

I hope Steve is wearing clean underwear on his professor emeritus junket. Sabbatical, right. Very suspicious timing overlap with Carnival in Rio. There are distracting things going on there that could cause Steve to slip, fall and end up in the hospital. (We say the hospital and for some reason, you probably don't.)

This will give you some idea of Steve's junket itinerary:

In some of those pictures you can tell he's been doing lots of chest exercises.

I stopped by the Post Office yesterday. The Science Grade X-ray Glasses are 'in country', just clearing Customs as they are an ITAR item. It'll be just a formality really and I should be able to pick them up tomorrow.

The lovely Olivia has agreed to a calibration session (I explained to her that it was just like a photo-shoot ;)) and that I would supply the white Lab Coat. All that she needs to bring is a pair of 'scientific' high-heels... for safety reasons, of course.

Hospital works, but we also say, "Going to Casualty".

I take it you will study the shoes to see how many nails were used and whether any were bent !!! In the interests of science of course.

Just about home... one last leg returning from Singapore/Thailand. Although I have little to advance the pallet question from this journey, I did watch a show on the flight from Hong Kong to SF called Brain Games, and they adamantly convinced me that humans already have X-ray vision. To demonstrate... hold your finger up close to your face and focus on it. Then refocus on a spot in the background... you will see that you finger becomes transparent!

Another claim is that our human eyes can see into the future... about a 1/10th of a second based on reaction time studies. Hard to share this simple test that was presented so you will have to research that on your own.

I am beginning to believe almost everyone on this thread is full of shheeeit!

Well, it's clear now that WagTail is going to parlay his use of the Scientific Grade X-Ray Vision instrument into building his "modeling agency" business. The word "pallet" did not even appear in his thoughts or in his post.

Since science is on the sidelines Down Under for the moment, and pallet research funding seems to have dried up, I think we should play "Where In The World Is Steve?"

Steve was very close-lipped about his destination(s), it's only natural that we do some speculation--for Steve's own sake of course.

I have several theories. One is that Steve will return as soon as he makes bail or escapes.

That is a theory with legs. Why else would he be so reticent in in sharing his itinerary? I think you should develop it further to see where it may lead.

This could be Steve, street string theorist in Stockholm, Sweden. He could have traveled to Stockholm to bribe the Nobel Committee, there is a history of that. Very similar to Olympic Ice Skate Judging.
