Tractor
JD 700 J
my 2006 JD 700 J slowed to a crawl in high speed. I killed the engine and tried to restart transmission when tractor went to an idle and does not respond to engine speed control or forward and reverse.
What happened??????

fuel filter changed recently, not a fuel issue. Intermittent issue , After restarting several times dozer would respond to engine speed control but would not respond to forward and reverse. It is all electronicly controlled. it must be some sensor or elect control. I just don't know how to find out what

If an engine is a Common Rail one, for me it looks like loosen engine speed sensor connection or accelerator pedal potentiometer fails.
But the best idea would be to diagnose that failure with a special device available at the dealer.

Ah, one more important thing: check the EGR valve FIRST, if fitted (I think it must be). Could be broken inside.
