Need to brew some coffee. 37° with light spurts rain this morning. Heading to 44° with a mix of sun and clouds and a brisk wind. Wind did not do it's job yesterday. Leaves have completely covered lawn. May wait one more day to see if wind will clear some of the leaves.

Off to the hospital this morning for a routine blood test draw to check cholesterol. Do you guys that take statins think it is affecting your memory? I've been drawing blanks lately in cases where I shouldn't be, or don't think I would have in the past.

Good Morning. 0700, overcast, 60* with 93% humidity. Forecast is for a high of 81* with a 20% chance of rain. I need to put water seal on the back deck, but I think I'll give it one more day to dry. {if we get through today without rain}

You can tighten up those old stoves with refractory cement. We even made some larger spacers out of pieces of refractory bricks (the white ones). For many years we had a modern airtight cook stove (Elmira and Oval)and closed air gaps frequently. I've seen some pretty big holes closed up. Anything can make a dramatic improvement performance.

I had to Google refractory cement. It might do the trick. We want to build an outside kitchen {cook shed in the local lingo} in a couple of years, and I wanted to put the woodstove in the screened in part of it. Maybe by the time we get started on the cook shed, I'll have patched the stove. Thanks for the info.
