Would like honest suggestions about tow vehicle issues

My '05 Dodge has been good to me (5.9 Cummins, NV5600 six-speed, B&W goose, 4WD, Jake, etc.). I run an Edge E-Z Tow module along with a Westach dual EGT/Boost gauge and Schaeffer's lubes and fuel treatment. Running around with an empty truck right now (mostly county roads and under 60mph) and the overhead is showing 22.1 mpg so :dance1:

I'd advise you to put a piece of duct tape over the overhead, except it does give temp and your compass. I'm running an Edge chip also and it makes the overhead miss by a mile. I'd also say my overhead reads about 22 mpg also, but I'd bet my hand calculated average is much closer to about 15.5 mpg.

This seems to be true on the Dodges. My Fords, GM's, Nissan, BMW, Honda, and Toyotas have never been off more than .5 mpg.

yep mine reads at or above 27 on the LIE O METER to end up with, a true hand calc 22mpg, and that's ALL highway and passengers only- No towing, and a concerted effort to minimize fuel use, under 68mph and certainly don't get that every tank,

Now that winter blends are here i guess i can kiss that mileage good by to:laughing:

My GMC mileage meter is almost dead on accurate when compared to hand calculating.

The problem with a diesel is when you chip them or tune them, often the overhead meter gets thrown off.

03 cummins, 19MPG no matter what I do with it. Bone stock. 2 jeeps on a goose from C Springs to Moab 15MPG. Mojor Maint since new? Valve adjustment and radiator hose and a water pump. Since the cummins is based on a commercial engine, the water pump was a 20 minute job and looses very little anti freeze when you pull the pump. Its 3 bolts and a belt. Now that I have figured out to let Cummins do maint on it, its cheaper than dodge and they know what the **** theyre doing.
