I'm looking for pictures of trucks turned into makeshift tractors.

I've been collecting some parts for this type of project... the vision I have is starting with a 2wd V10 ford, divorced t-case, mounting a narrowed ranger cab, rockwell axles with filled 53" Michelins

I know, not as good as a real tractor, but I love building stuff. Should be good enough to push some snow and maybe some other chores.

Old ones for ideas:

doodlebug tractor

A couple of the more modern ones:

Awesome! At least now I know what they're called so I can search them. Still, I'd like to find examples of even more modern day vehicles converted to tractors. Found a nice 99 F250 on kijiji... V10, 2wd, crew cab (not that that matters), for under $3K. That would make a great starter for what I have in mind.

I love the idea, but please elaborate on "divorced transfer case".

A divorced transfer case is one attached with a driveshaft to the transmission. Not coupled directly to your out put shaft on the very end of tranny, LUTT

There is a short, exposed driveshaft between the transmission and the transfer case. When"married," the transfer case and the transmission case are bolted together, or are one unit.

Yup what they said. Makes converting a 2wd truck to 4wd easyer as long as the wheelbase is long enough.

Unimogs are awesome, and I'd have one in a min. but they're rare, expensive or antiques... at least where I am... and like I said; I like projects. I talked about making my own version before starting with something like this;

...but this will be a single seater narrowed 1/4T cab. Enter/exit either side, straddle the tranny tunnel... : )

Here is a nice one.

that was made by the Minneapolis Moline tractor company, one of the first factory cabbed tractor, it was a modified "model U" UDLX for "U deluxe",

The UDLX was introduced in 1938 and dubbed the Comfortractor. It was designed as a solution for multiple problems. The farmer could work in the fields all week, then drive to town in comfort on the weekends. The UDLX was equipped with all the modern amenities - a fully enclosed, heated cabin with windows that open, cigarette lighter, a second seat for your tractor dog during the week, or the little lady on the weekend. You get a glove box, rear opening door, full raft of gauges, and slick coupe-like styling — well, as close as a tractor can get to a sedan. The top speed of this beast was rated at 45 mph so a bit slow, but definitely usable on rural roads. The problem with the whole equation was cost and timing. The nation was still a bit in the doldrums at the end of the Great Depression, war was looming on the horizon, and the price tag for the fancy tractor was steep at $2,150. Those factors in concert all led to a production of only about 150 of the old tractors. In person the UDLX is a handsome machine and the engine is smooth, all the instrumentation falls easily to hand and it's owners are invariably swamped with admirires when taken to antique tractor shows (yes they exist). The UDLX Comfortractor, an evolutionary offshoot that didn't quite make it, but still cool nonetheless.P

Is this something you are going to take on as a project? I have an old IH 4wd fire truck that I keep thinking of selling for scrap. The running gear on it is in good shape with a divorced transfer case. I'm pretty sure the axles and transfer case are made by spicer so parts should be easy to come by if needed. Because it was a gasser the gears are all wrong for a diesel over the road truck but for use as a tractor where a top speed of 40 mph would be overkill it would work great. Or you could just use a gas engine.

Thanks for all the info bcp! I looked over all 60 pages of the Sweden pics, and that Mac based tractor is awesome!

Man that sounds awesome!... but it looks like you're about 700miles away. I'll tell ya what; I'll give you scrap price if you include delivery! : )

I'm half thinking of hacking up the Jeep. I don't use it on the street anymore, and I can't get any money to sell it. I'm thinking solid mount the rear end, lower it 4-6", re-gear... possibly swap out the 14 bolt for a D70 because it goes to 7.17 vrs the 14 bolt's max of 5.38, narrow and shorten the tub/hardtop/ hood to single seater for visibility and ease of in/ out both sides. Remove all fenders obviously... maybe build a Ranger style dump box. Load the tires...
