Tractor hit by falling tree top

No insurance specifically for the tractor I could check into HO policy but my deductible might be higher then the repair costs. My neighbor does body work so going to have him take a look at it. The silver piece is the latch to open/close the hood. It does work but not ideal so biggest concern is getting that part back to normal which should be possible since it isn't broken. I don't mind a few dings here and there as others have mentioned it adds character so I doubt I'll replace with brand new. It could have been worse so I guess in that regard am lucky I wasn't driving it at the time. The irony is I have wanted to cut that maple down for last couple years and now my decision is made. I'll get the last laugh AND have a nice reminder of the real power of Mother Nature.

If your neighbor does body work that in my opinion is the way to go. He can return it to near new if you don't add any hard set creases.

Heck, leave it as is!!! Just a battle scar, now you don't have to worry about something falling out of the bucket and denting the hood. I would suggest finding a better place to park it though.

bigballer I am sorry to see this, I am glad you were not on the tractor.

Man, I hate it when the trees try to fight back. Hope it's ready to get some revenge soon.

I would try to fix it first. If it doesn't work out, think about a new one. I'm betting though, that you can bring it back to an acceptable condition yourself. As mentioned, for thirty bucks you can get a body kit from Harbor Freight and then start tapping, little taps and a lot of them. The dents should start to disappear and from the looks of it, the paint may still be intact. I did this with a nasty dent on my B21 and it vanished after about thirty minutes of light taps.

Hey BB, No more parking in the eye of the storm zone!
Wow, you made out like a bandit! Lucky that is all the damage you sustained. Get the hood open and check for any possible radiator or battery or other damage before using it. I dropped a large tree stalk by accident on my hood and had my body guy bang it and repaint it for reasonable- it's not perfect, but it's good enough.
I'd pay out of pocket, vs. insurance claim/deductible, etc. Good luck- post back decision/results.

I had a 50 foot auger blow off the Bin and hit my tractor missing the cab by inches took off the muffler hood and even too the neck off the fuel tank and air intake,

as stated I took it off turned it up side down and basically walked the hood back straight, a little with a rubber mallet and block of wood for back up, there were no small dents in it from pounding, and turn out well, I would suggest trying not to use bondo if possible

Sorry about your tractor. I just missed that happening to me. My tractor was where my truck was the day before. My truck is a 1978 1 ton and the tree mostly landed in the dump insert. A couple of scratches and a broken plastic window moulding. Figured I did ok.

I have body man friend that works out of his shop behind his house. Having him fix dents is cheap. It's the paint products that is expensive. If I took my body man your tractor and a quart of Kubota paint, there is no doubt I could get it fixed like new for $150...and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was less than that.

Hope your neighbor is like my buddy. Good luck!

Since you will most likely be painting if your tires aren't loaded you could have the wheels painted at the same time. I would use the factory Kubota paint. It's funny that Kubota can sell you the same paint they use in Japan but the US company that builds the wheels can't use it. If you can get a little plus out of something bad it may help ease the pain.
