OMG! 4shorts, you have just given me another reason to not want to be where it gets THAT cold! I literally laughed out loud. I'm sure your friend didn't find it funny at the time, though.

Well I never really finished the story so I'll tell it now. My buddy was in terrible shape after messing in his hood. You just knew it wasn't Avon calling when he walked in the cabin. The cabin was under construction. Outside was completed but inside just had pink insulation between the studs. No running water and a wood stove. We had a very limited supply of tissue and after that he was still in awful shape so he opted to wipe himself with some pink insulation. Well not only did he smell really bad he was starting to itch really bad. Ever see and old dog infested with flees? SAME THING. It was God awful.
We had only arrived and had to head back to town 25 miles away. Oh the name calling he had to deal with for years after that

I'm sorry, 4shorts, but that is hilarious! And I can imagine the "nickname" he had for years after that!

The thought of pink insulation being used as a corn cob or tissue makes my skin crawl. I'll bet he looked like an old bear scratching, when he got near a tree!

The poor guy missed a weeks work. Some say the glass in the insulation scratched him up pretty bad but I think the embarrassment was the real reason he was off

I believe that would be adding insult to injury. Or vice versa.

Love reading this thread, getting ideas and thinking about how I can improve what I have with what I have (budget tight). Thanks and keep it coming!

Glad your enjoying the thread. Theres always room to improve no matter what a person has.

As for the thread. It started because of all the trees and dead brush on the back portion of our property. Then it led to us getting the BX that was small enough to get back there. From that it led to reworking the land, moving things around, putting in a road to getting a dump trailer to move material. Kind of crazy how it all materialized but it made for some longs days and evenings and it just keeps on going.
Almost like a reality show  there's a little bit of this and a little bit of that with folks laughing, getting mad, learning something, liking me one minute and despising me the next.
Wifey advised me to stop but I'm too pig headed for that. Made some good friends and enemies because if it. Just the other day one of the friends called from the US just to say hi and just chat about everything and anything. My enemies haven't called yet thank God

Ha. So true. Good point

And the was told this week I NEVER listen to what others do for mods on there tractors

Anyway what works for others may not work for me and the same goes for my location of the forward cam. This is about the only mod I've done on the 5740 that cost me zero money. I was given the extra camera two years ago and I had the extra harness so I said frig it and put it right on top of the light bar. The light bar was already there so it was an easy install. I can see the tips of the forks (Don't need to see in the bucket) and if I think I'm getting to close to a higher object I will switch over to the front camera and look with out getting out of the cab. I should have used my newer camera to snap the pics but that's what I had the shop camera for. Thanks Waxman

Well I got up this morning and there was no wind and the sun was shining. I usually don't like to work Sundays but It don't always work out. There were some tall trees close to the shop that really worried me. They had no branch's until the top 15' or so making them top heavy so today was going to be the day they were going. Between the 5740 and the BX25D we got the job done. A friend of mine who has had a tough year got three more loads of wood for the winter.
Here's a few photo's. The first few show just how high these trees were compared to the tractor and shop.

Gotta luv that BX working! Are you also guilty of working the BH from the forward looking seat position?

Oh ya. I do it often. That's what I miss about a real backhoe, being able to just turn the seat around from front to back but I'm happy enough to do it this way. :dance1:

I just had 5 tree removed. This is an 80' plus tree down in 9 seconds...

:D

Now that's how to take down a tree. Those bucket trucks sure come in handy for that sort of thing. Cool!

Do you all find the BX25 noisy? I ran one today at the dealer and was surprised how much I had to crank it up.

At what RPM are you talking about? I run mine around 2500rpm or a little lower if I am not taxing it. Above 2500 it does get a little noisy for me but I don't have experience with other tractors to gauge it.

that brought back memories, some thirty five years ago my father in law came home from hunting and we were all gathered around the fire place so as he pasted through the house he waved and said he was going to get a shower said he had been smelling ---- all day. when he got to the bath room and took his insulated suit off he found out why it was all in the collar. had not thought of that in years and it is still funny.

Oh ya. I did. I have to say "did" because I got used to it but when I first started operating it I found it brutally loud because I was so used to the Kubota 5740 and 4240 cab. Even now when I get back in the cab it's like a relief to get away from the noise. That being said I love the little tractor and I do wear hearing protection on it as wll on the ZTR.

I run mine about the same. Sometimes a touch bit higher.

 glad you posted. It shows this kind of thing actually do happen  oh there's so many stories and I have so many :D

Yeah my L3830 is MUCH quieter than the BX. Actually the BX is one of the loudest tractors I have operated. Not sure where all that racket is coming from!

4Shorts... Got a great mod idea for u.... Silencer kit for the BX!
